My center stone is .52 RB/E/SI1. My original ering was a plain catherdral setting with 4-prongs. I wanted the halo look, but because center stone is less than a carat, I didn''t want to go overkill with adding diamonds to the shank.
So I talked to my jeweler and he said he could just take the head/prongs off my existing ering and design a halo basket and attach it onto my ring.
Not only did it cost me a fraction of redesign an entire ring - it''s sit flush with my existing wedding band! I''m a happy camper!
My halo is .28 ct of 1-pointer melee diamonds. My wedding band is .50 ct G/VS2 rounds.
That''s a beautiful ring. And an inspired retrofit. Make sure that set gets into Show Me the Ring thread. It''s a really cool way to update a wedding set. It''s great design, it pumps up a 1/2 ct., and it works with the channel set band. That update would also work very nicely for ''80s / ''90s yellow gold, too.
It''s simply beautiful. And it looks huuuge! Makes me want to put my .50 ct into a halo.... hmmmm.... Do you have "before" pics? I''d like to see the difference.
