My Rainy Day project.

Rainy Sunday, it’s a stay home day.
I bought a really sweet necklace with a carved Jade centre piece. I knew that the chain was never going to last long - a) it was only like 1mm wide and b) it was a box link which cant be easily repaired if it breaks.
It broke and I’m thankful that I didn’t lose it.
I looked online for a new white gold chain and of course gold prices are through the roof and the prices are eye watering. Its not a piece I wear often, so not really worth further $$$ investment as the colour disappears on me, but I like it.
Rummaging through my box of items that are supposed to be listed for sale (yeah, I know, eventually I’ll get there) I reconnected with an aquamarine facetted bead necklace. It’s just a tad too short to be comfy so I can’t wear it.
I think I have a solution, two pieces not wearable turned into something pretty.

The aquamarine beads are very sparkly (no sun today though) and work well with the Jade. I added a few crystal Aura Borealis beads to get a bit more length.
I might buy a better clasp and restring again.

And speaking of chains breaking...
I remember being at a rather formal affair at the Sydney Opera House. This is a place with stairs and more stairs. A lady wearing a long strand of pearls had the strand break and all these little pearls went bouncing and bouncing down the stairs and away. A few ladies, myself included, assisted with trying to recover them. Must have been costume, not being individually knotted. Embarassing.
And my Mother’s friend, she felt her neck and realised her chain and the diamond pendant was gone, broken. Apparently the whole restaurant was searched, the bathroom, the walk back to the car, the car. No luck. Very upset until getting ready for bed. Being a lady of Most generous chest proportions it had disappeared into her cleavage and was only set free - found- when the bra came off.
