Hey ladies,
If you remember my story, my father paid in full for my wedding reception. He got a 30% discount if he paid in cash, which he did and everyone else did with this venue. The venue went bankrupt after Hurricane Ike, and we lost all of the money. We are still in court, but it doesn''t look like we will ever get anything back. This was back in September, and my heart still breaks when I think of it. Here''s my link from all of that in case you are bored: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/how-my-parents-lost-20k-on-my-wedding-reception.95774/ . Anyway, there were 50 other couples in my situation ranging from losing 3k to 27k. We lost 18k (originally thought it was 20k because I added wrong!). My poor father has paid (is paying) for another wedding for me. This one is just as big and almost as pretty, and we are very fortunate and grateful for my wedding that will still happen on July 25th.
Well different people in Houston emailed Rachael Ray and told her about it, and she threw all of the couples a wedding. We didn''t actually get married since we are Catholic and you cannot get married outside of the church and then have a church wedding. My church wedding was non negotiable, so we just joined in the celebration and watched 45 other couples tie the knot in a huge group ceremony. It was so much fun! She transformed our ballpark into a Winter Wonderland as she called it, and they aired the show in November. We couldn''t talk about it until it aired, and I never thought about posting pictures of it until today.
Rachael Ray was so gracious to do this for us. It turned out so beautiful and we had so much fun. We were able to invite 10 people. We invited all of our friends and no family bc we wanted to have the most fun possible! The food was AMAZING. Wine, champagne, steak, chicken. The DJ was great, and she had a mystery guest Winona Judd sing for us. We got a private photographer who followed our group around throughout the night and these are some of her pictures. At the end, we got a Flip video camera (which is super cool) and we got a "free" trip to Mexico that we ended up not taking. All in all, we got taxed out the wazzoo for this, so it ended up costing us even more, but it was a really fun evening we are thankful for.
Enjoy the pictures! These are NOT my wedding!!!! I will post pics of my real wedding when we get back from Greece in August.
