My Pearlman's Princess Project

I have a .9 ct princess diamond that I'd like to set in a ring. The sharp edges are very modern, and I'd like to give it a more vintage look. To vaccinate for DSS, I'd like to max out finger coverage. I hope to keep the setting around $1500.

I am looking for suggestions that I might have missed. I would like to work with Pearlman's as Julian has access to Beverly K and seems very accommodating. Beverly K's prices are affordable.

I went to a B&M and tried on this setting by Simon G. I love the compass setting, which gives the illusion of a bigger stone. However, the princess is not a perfect square and that might drive me nuts. My quirk is an obsession over symmetry.

It looks better in person. I found a cushion in this setting on SMTB.

Then I got distracted by webdiva's POH. Her setting would perform magic on the harsh lines of a princess cut.

Serious finger coverage!

I began to like bezels and found another Beverly K at my price point.

Beverly K is killing me with her bezels!

Whoops, the following is gorgeous but out of my price range.

This Beverly K is not a size maximizer but very nice indeed.

I feel overwhelmed. How in the world can I pick? Are there any Beverly K's out there that could be perfect and that I am missing? Her website does not feature the setting profiles, so it is hard for me to go through it with utmost scrutiny ... and I have gone through it many, many times.

There are 2 conditions for the setting I pick:

1. It must be a forever setting.
2. It must make my princess look fancy and big.

I have been thinking about this setting for months. It has been driving me nuts. How do I clear my head?

Thoughts?

Girly,
If you want finger coverage then you should go for a halo!! Bev K has several. Pearlmans or Greenwich have side profile views of Bev K settings. I wish the Bev K website was better.

You could also try Gabriel & Co.

Will this be a RHR? I hope you're not replacing your AVC...

It will be a RHR. I just happen to have a princess lying around, lol. I figure that I should have it set in a way that would thwart DSS.

The settings I liked from Gabriel & Co were out of my budget. I'm pretty set on Beverly K for value. I contacted 3 vendors about BK settings. One did not respond. One said that BK does not do modifications for princesses. Pearlman's checked with BK to see about modifications and pricing, so I'd like to stick with Pearlman's. Customer service has been good so far.

I like this one too! https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-present-for-myself.68846/

I think a larger one like webdiva's will give you enough finger coverage and look better as a RHR than some of the ones that look more like engagement rings. I love BK, too!

Flattered by mentioned my ring, thanks! :twirl:

If you do go with Bev K and a halo, you'll LOVE the finger coverage. I'm still crazy in love with my ring! :) Someone at work commented that my ring looks like something that should be on an old money socialite. hehe

Bev K has a ton of new styles under their New Styles tab (http://www.beverleyk.com/new-styles.html )and they will customize to ANY shape. My POH is much more complicated than a princess!

I've seen this one in person and it's very pretty!

Greenwich has a bunch of great pictures of Bev K styles:

The halos will definitely look less engagement and more cocktail ring on a RHR. I'm afraid the mere bezels won't be enough "oomph" for you if you want finger coverage.
