Hello ladies and gents!

Firstly, I''d like to properly introduce myself, my name is Yomna, I''m 23 yrs old, I am from Egypt, my fiance (Ahmed) and I are both medical students, in our final year. Engaged on 14/08/09.

A few of you might recognize me from a previous thread a while ago on e-rings from outside the US here https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/calling-all-e-rings-from-outside-the-united-states.128229/ (don''t know how to link yet

After discovering ps, and learning quite a lot from all of you around here (many thanks to everyone), I am now in the process of creating my ring.

I contacted Jonathan at GOG for an oval, he sent me this nice candidate(thanks Jonathan);

Can you post the link to the stone?

Hi Yomna

Can you post the photograph of the diamond and the DiamXray image and the Sarin report too please? Have you asked Jon whether this oval shows much of a bow tie? In case you aren't familiar with this term, a bow tie is literally a bow tie shaped dark area running across the middle of the stone and many elongated fancy shapes show this effect. You can see it in the image as the blue area across the centre but its always best to judge these by asking an expert with the stone in hand to evaluate these rather than relying on images which can be deceptive.

I''m afraid I don''t have a link, the stone was brought in, but Jonathan did send me a DiamXray pic.. I''ll be attaching that in a moment.

Yes, indeed thank you Lorelei.. Actually Jonathan told me the bow tie was on the "fainter side".. I don''t really have a picture of the diamond itself, but you could see the video of it in my post above.. And here''s the DiamXray image.. Sorry no Sarin report as well, maybe I''ll ask him for one

Thanks for the other image, I know I am a nuisance

but do you have the actual photo of the diamond too please? Also ask Jon if he has the crown height for this diamond as that is the important info needed from a Sarin, he can probably get this info relatively easily.

Nuisance?? No!! Not you Lorelei, never.. I''ve been following some of your posts, your advice is just tremendously great I have to say!!

So, I''ll be asking Jonathan for a Sarin report, the crown height, and perhaps an actual picture.. But I know it''ll probably take a while, but in the mean time I took a snapshot of the diamond from the video, I thought maybe it would help a bit..

Hi everyone..

A quick update, Jonathan sent me this link to the diamond http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6833

Unfortunately, I need to make up my mind as soon as possible, because it would be soon on its way back to the supplier

My budget is around $5500 or maximally $6000, but that is as far as I can go.

Please, help me decide if I should buy it. In other words, is the the best stone my money could buy?? Or should I wait until something else shows up??

Anyone??

Hi Yamanouchi

Sorry I wasn''t around yesterday, I have a question, what is the actual table size? From the link it says 80% and above 56%?

Now that''s weird.. I just checked the Diamcalc report it said 64.51?? I''m confused

Some variance is normal from various measurement methods but I would email Jon and ask him, if you look on the diamond details on the right of the page it says table 80%. It looks like a decent oval but not the best cut I have seen.

I will ask him about that.. Thanks for the heads up.. I''m just too busy now with my finals, and with a surgery exam tomorrow this is getting on my nerves..

Just a question Lorelei, if you please, Jonathan mentioned that the stone needs to be returned to the wholesaler as soon as possible, so unless I am serious about it, it will be unavailable quite soon. Question is, do you see that it''s a keeper? Or should I pass??

N.B. Jonathan said that it is one of the better ovals around
