As some of you know, I have been prowling around on here for a while looking for ideas of how to reset my pear solitaire. We bought the diamond from the diamond district in Birmingham (UK) & picked out a setting, but at the time I wasn't wearing my full eternity ring. The new pear was set in a low basket, which although great with my wedding band, I found the claws were grating and damaging my full eternity that my husband had custom made following the birth of our youngest daughter :o My eternity is super precious to me & complimented my original but now damaged princess cut engagement ring.

So after taking inspiration from your rings, settings, styles and sitting with my jeweller, we finally came up with a new design for my pretty little stone, including setting extra little diamonds down the previously plain shoulders :sun: The jeweller had to shape the two back claws and curve them up straight before they went outwards to hold the stone, clearing the claws of the eternity which sits high - its 3mm above the finger. The courier arrived this morning right on time, so without further ado, here is my new, flush sitting, non-eternity-ring-claw-chewing beautiful pear solitaire.....

Thank you everyone for your inspiration :))

(For those interested in specs, the pear is 1.02 carat, D colour, VS1 clarity, ideal cut & certified by the AGI. The side diamonds are F colour & VS1 clarity but I don't know their carat weight. Full eternity is 1.75 carats, F colour & VS1 clarity.)

Looks wonderful, Alex! I like the channel set diamonds in the shank - very nice!! And what great finger coverage you are getting with your stack!!

Lovely!!! :appl:

Very pretty!

Beautiful! Love all the rings together!

Oh Alex it's perfect!!!!I love how chubby your pear is! I never noticed from the other pictures! Also either I skimmed over it or you never mentioned your eternity band was a push present. Lucky bunny. My FI still doesn't get the consept of them! ( even after my 9.5 lb daughter was born)
I'm so glad you love it!! :naughty:

I also wanted to add that I am bak to loving on my pear, myself.

Very very nice!! Love the stack too!! Eternity as a push present... sooooo jealous! after having my 2 kids, I felt I needed some nice bling and pretty much demanded an upgrade... I don't think the push present would have gone well with him! Lucky you!

Thank you everyone - it's so nice to hear feedback from the professionals and not just my mum! I was a bit nervous about putting channel set rounds in the shoulders & instead of channel set princess to make it more matchy, but I'm glad I went with the rounds now. My pear was never going to match my eternity or be my original engagement ring, so why not just go the whole hog & have 3 different cuts? :D

My eternity was kind of a deal & I knew it would be coming. We had agreed 2 children & hubby did ask when I was about 7 months pregnant with my first if he should start looking around, but we had only been married for 6 months when I fell pregnant & so i decided I had not had the pleasure of my engagement & wedding rings for long enough at that stage on their own. So that's when we brokered the deal: we would complete our family of 2 safely delivered children before I got my ring, but I wanted it custom making and not high street :sun:

I knew he was up to something just before number 2 was born as there were secret e-mails & he kept taking pics of my wedding rings & uploading them to his computer - he was actually sending them to the designer. I don't think he would be very good in the SAS

Both of my babies were emergency C-section's. I did 40 hours labour with my first before theatre & 12 hours with my second in a desperate attempt to avoid theatre. I have a serious blood clotting disorder & my healing is rubbish, so disaster struck when my section scar from my first ruptured during this 2nd labour. The first section was hairy but the second dreadful & there was a period of about 40 minutes during the 4 hour surgery where they weren't sure I'd make it through because I was just losing blood. Thankfully i was delivering in a specialist Haematology research unit in Liverpool. Consequently I have very precious memories of my husband wedging that eternity ring on my finger in hospital the next day, my hands horribly swollen & me being rather ill, as he was utterly relieved I was there & determined to get it on my hand. It got so stuck it wouldn't come off for 2 weeks!

Ooh, that was rather a lot of information, wasn't it? But it was nice to share the story behind the push present & why I would not by hook or crook let anything happen to it :nono:

Nielseel - I am SO glad to hear you are loving your pear again. Treasure it. It's very pretty :))

That's what I call an experience to match an eternity ring. Congratulations on a successful reset! That is just a fabulous result!! Lovely set of rings! :appl: :appl:

I love a good chubby pear! Beautiful! :)

Thank you, lovelies. Yep, I definitely earned the eternity!

Yes, it is a 'fat' pear, isn't it?! I did look at some longer more skinny ones, but they just didn't look right on my hand. My ring size is a UK K 1/2 which is a US 5.5 I think? This pear has an ideal cut, no bow tie & measures an impressive 6.5 x 7.9 mm for its 1.02 carats :lickout:
