It''s finished at last! I just picked up my Mozambique "Paraiba" tourmaline ring from the jewelers and I''m jumping for joy!
They did wonderful work and the truth is that when I first saw it, I just stood gaping at it for a few moments.
Anyway, here is a pictured of the finished project:
Of course, I couldn''t affors the 0.60 ct diamonds on the original, so I had to settle for 6 diamonds total weight 0.25 cts, FVVS1. I also had them platinum-plate the side stone areas to create the illusion of continuity.
Here is another picture on my hand. I didn''t have a good camera, so these pics don''t even come close to depicting the beauty of the ring, the brightness of the diamonds or anything, really, but I couldn''t wait to get better pics before I posted!
Thank you, Diamondseeker. I had a long argument with my jeweler about the color of the gold. He wanted to set it in white gold but I was afraid that the green of the stone would not show up well and it would make it resemble an aquamarine too much. I didn''t want that, since I already own two aquamarines.
It was gratifying that he admitted that my choice of YG was the best decision when he saw the finished ring!
Thank you very much, Linda. I chose the stone for its color alone and even pretended I didn''t see the small flaw and the little window on it! Since at arms length these two flaws don''t really show up, I think I got the better part of the deal
