i thought I'd post this here, as it's a clarity grade most people never consider.
I have asymetric piercings in my ears (3 in one ear, one in the other), so I always wear a diamond stud in the outer hole of the ear with the multiple piercings. I like my diamonds nice and white, and I don't need something too huge (meaning that the inclusions will be correspondingly smaller), so I1 in the colorless range is just fine for me.
If you look at the specs of this stone, you'll see that the cut is terrific:
SHAPE: Round
CARAT WEIGHT: 0.51
COLOR: E
CLARITY: I1
CUT: Excellent
POLISH: Excellent
SYMMETRY: Excellent
FLUORESCENCE: Faint
L/W/D (MM): 5.15*5.14*3.18
MORE DIAMOND INFORMATION
L/W RATIO: 1.00
DEPTH %: 61.80
GIRDLE: Medium - Slightly Thick
TABLE %: 55.00
CULET: None
CERTIFICATE: GIA
CROWN ∠: 34.50
CROWN %: 15.50
PAVILION ∠: 40.80
Also - LGF is 75%, so a nice small table, chunky arrows, and a nice rise on the crown %.
And if you look at the inclusions, they're really not anything that will detract from an ear stud. With my PS discount, I got another $90 off, bringing this lovely, colorless, beautifully cut, half ct stone in at $1080 - no tax and free shipping. Average starting price for VS2 and above starts at over $1800, and ranges all the way up to $2800 on the JA site. You have to ask yourself - why would you?
