I have a new pendant (0.75ct J SI1 with strong blue fluorescence) which is very pretty, but it has 2 problems that is driving me crazy!

1st problem
50% of the time it will tilt downward (like below photos), i have another tiffany bezel which has the same 16" chain but it doesnt have this problem, Anyone knows the reason?

2nd problem
Comparing the bezel to my E-ring set in six prong, the bezel looks way less firey/ sparkly, both diamonds are ideal cuts, is it because of the bezel setting covered the girdle and decreased the light return? Should i reset it to prong setting (martini etc.) ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Beautiful necklace! :)

The first thing that comes to mind with the flipping is if the chain is strung through the back properly. From your photos is appears to be, but it is hard to tell. Have you tried re-stringing the chain through the loops in the back in a different way? Did that make a difference? I also wonder if a longer chain might make a difference? It could just be a matter of the diamond being heavy and pulling itself downward. Perhaps a different setting would solve this.

As far as being less sparkly, have you tried cleaning it? Did that make a difference?

I think G is always going to appear brighter than J. But I will say no, my stone in a bezel like that does not have diminished light return. I don't like that back design, personally. I had them alter mine when it was made but I still don't love it. I think the backs of pendants need to have a wide circular base to sit flat against the skin. This picture illustrates what I mean...

It's the back of the pendant that makes it flip. Mine never does. I have a four prong basket style setting.

I have the same setting (the BGD Barbara, right?) and it does the same flippy thing, even after I had the chain lengthened an inch. I wonder if there's any sort of modification that can be done, because it was not a cheap setting. I'll see what I can find out.

As for the color, mine is also a J and I haven't noticed any difference in brightness from my H-colored earrings (also bezeled).

Mine is flat bezeled and it never flips.

Ya i spent $700+ on this BGD Barbara milgrain and it definitely not worth it!

See if you can return for a different style?

I have this setting and I think that this can be fixed. String the chain through two loops which are adjacent to one another. Then it won't flip.

I have that setting too and I think the necklace is already threaded through that way?

Re: flipping, mine will sometimes do what yours is doing in that photo. I think it depends a lot on chain length and how close it is sitting to your neck... the closer it is, the more likely it is to flip. The other thing is the pendant design/chain. I know the Barbara is meant to be a sliding pendant, but I find that mine does NOT slide a lot of the time and the links in the chain get stuck in the back which contributes to this problem...

So perhaps a longer but finer chain?

This may help - I changed the chain and now have a 1mm wheat platinum chain. It isn't as dainty but is rounder and allows the pendant to slide. Length wise, It sits right just my collar bone.

Try looping chain around a second time and see if that stabilizes it.

I am so sorry that you pendant is not working out for you. That must be a huge disappointment! I don't have any experience with that style of pendant so I can't really comment on the flipping question, except to say that sometimes flipping is caused by where the pendant Lies on the chest, and a slightly longer chain might help if that's the case.

From the photo that you provided, it does not look as if the bezel height should be interfering with the diamonds performance. I have had that happen with bezel set earrings – in fact, they were sent by Brian Gavin – but they were very tiny diamonds and the height of the basil was quite significant compared to the size of the diamonds. A profile photo might show it more clearly, but it does not appear that's the case with your pendant.

(I meant bezel, not basil, of course )

Could you please provide more photos as i still dont understand the modification??

Look at the photo. When you thread the chain through the two adjacent loops the way that photo shows, the chain will be at the top of the pendant. Then the big crossways empty loop serves as a standoff, near the bottom of the pendant, to make the bottom of stand out from your skin. The empty loop toward the bottom is what should prevent it from tipping over.

eta: Photo I attached, if you pick the pendant up by the chain, the chain is at the top and the loop across the bottom is acting as the stand or prop. (Actually, the other two loops are also propping the pendant. It has 3 standoffs that should work together.) This photo is from the BGD website.

I think you already have it arranged the way they're were saying to try it.
I think it's a design flaw and it would irritate me to no end. I'd check & see if they will change it for you.
