Just grabbed this bad boy. Came out of the GIA lab a month ago. Could not have known what to look for without the knowledge I picked up on this site. Thanks everyone!

Thanks! The process seemed like it would never end. Everytime I would find a stone, there would always be something throwing me off a bit - too deep, too shallow, not chunky enough, etc. Part of it was because I thought I knew so much about what a cushion should look like and what specs it should have from reading hundreds and hundreds of threads on PS. Sometimes I felt I had soo much information that I would never find anything that not only looked good but also met certain criteria I thought were important. I felt bad for the jewelers I was working with since I was so indicisive - they prob all wanted to strangle me especially since I almost went with 2 other stones and changed my mind last minute twice. I literally had a deposit down on this one other stone which just didnt feel right but I felt it was "good enough". And then that very next morning, a jeweler who I thought hated me because I changed my mind on one of his stones 3 days before that (I know I am horrible), said that a new stone just came in and he thought I shoud look.

And thats the story...I loved the way it looked and it had the specs I thought were important to me. The other jeweler was disappointed but nice enough to tear up my deposit check (thank god!). But it definitely shows that patience will pay off and there is no need to settle, especially on something as expensive as this that I hope I will have forever. I just felt bad for these poor guys who were looking and looking and holding stones for me. But I guess that is there job at the end of the day!

Everyone: thank you for your lovely comments. I really appreciate it.

Any thoughts? My thoughts are that I''d like it for my very own! :) Congrats!

I know nothing about cushions but I would definitely buy yours! It looks gorgeous! If I was ever going to buy a second diamond it would be a cushion!

Love the shape and the chunky monkey facets. How are you having it set?

Ohhhh, what a wonderful story. Those chunky cushies are so hard to find, and most jewelers just don''t have access to that style of cushion, but you should be so proud of yourself for sticking to your guns and not settling for anything less than what you wanted. It looks magnificent, and I bet it''s going to throw rainbows all over the place.

LOVE it. That''s exactly the cut that I want. So glad that you were able to find one. Gives me hope...! Can''t wait to see your finished piece.

Stunning!!! Looking forward to more pics!

Thank you so much!!! I am so excited! Well, I love the Harry Winston micropave that I have seen on a few girls here on PS so its going to be similar to that but with some modifications to keep it very simple under the stone and let it speak for itself. So on a somewhat small hand (size 4) I want this to really pop without too much other fanfare going on. Aiming for something very elegant and timeless. I saw a setting I loved on a girl here on PS but for the life of me I cant remember the name. I saved the pic and forwarded it to my jeweler and was like "I want that!!". If I can find the thread I will post it.

This will be the longest 2-3 weeks in a very long time!

Just want to say that is a beautiful diamond. Also, Lost Sapphire just started a Rings in Waiting thread (Link) over in Colored Stones that you might want to visit while waiting for your beauty to come back....

LOL. How do you calculate finger coverage??? I never seen that done before but definitely a useful statistic.
