Hello Everyone hope you are all well,
I posted a couple of days ago asking to see some of your 1920's and 30's rings and some of you posted some really helpful replies so thank you very much for that. EHR2009 I loved your channel set band and clgwli your ring is just beautiful.
Mr Lottie UK and I have been looking for a ring for my 30th birthday and to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our second baby in July and I really wanted something from the 1920's or 30's. It is a kind of engagement ring upgrade, although we don't really do that in the UK and a lot of my friends are amazed at the thought of my having more than one ring!. We had a look last week and I saw one I liked but went back yesterday for a second look and I completely fell in love with it! I feel that it is the perfect ring for me and cannot think of a single thing about it that I don't adore.
It is a 1920's platinum ring with an 0.80ct transition cut diamond in the centre and four rose cut diamonds on each side of the mount, I also like that in each of the four corners of the main part of the mount (sorry - my terminology marks me out very clearly as a novice) there is a tiny diamond set in to give it extra twinkle. It is a size 6.
The ring has never been resized and when I tried it on it was a perfect fit which was great (and also I got to take it home that day!). My wedding ring is a 3mm sprinkle set band and the two rings don't look quite right together, so last night I had a look on the Leon Mege website and was thinking that in time I might get a very thin micropave band to sit alongside it. BUT....
On my way back to the car from Yoga this morning I walked past our local antiques shop and had a little peek in the window as I always do, and sat winking at me was a 1930's 1.7 mm platinum wedding band with tiny flowers carved on it. Not only is it in perfect condition but it is also a perfect size 6. I love how it looks with my ring and I cannot get over how lucky I was to find it. I guess some things are just meant to be.
Anyway sorry for all the waffle, here are some pictures. Enjoy!
