Hi everyone - starting back in April I decided to have David Klass redo the head on my engagement ring because although I love my setting the existing peg head was very utilitarian and I wanted something prettier.
Back when I found Pricescope in 2008 I realized the diamond we got in 1995 was really not a high performing diamond and was likely lower in color than the I it was graded as by EGL. So if DK was going to redo the head of my ring why not put a prettier diamond in it too?
Without hesitation I started looking at Whiteflash’s inventory of diamonds for something that was better cut (going up in color, clarity or carat weren’t my objectives). And after some debate about expert selection vs. ACA and lots of assistance from folks on this forum I ended up with a 1.451 H SI1 gorgeous ACA diamond. So an added bonus that in addition to the much better cut I also got slight bumps in color and size.
I can’t stop looking at my new stone/ring. It is absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I was hoping for.
But now what to do with my original 1.3 I SI1 diamond? I decided to set that in a 14k yellow gold sliding bezel pendant also from DK to give to my daughter for her 21st bday in a few weeks. It’s beautiful and the diamond sparkles so I hope she loves it (and if she doesn’t I’ll be happy to take it off her hands lol).
Without further ado, here are some of my pictures as well as DK’s professional shots of my upgraded diamond and e-ring as well as the new pendant. I just had to take a few modeling shots of the pendant (having just come back from the gym because I have no patience) before forcing myself to put it back in it’s beautiful round box.
