So, what setting, la Pousette backs or the heavy friction backs, PS'ers? I'm inclined to go with the 3-prong martini's but do I go platinum or 18k WG? Shall I have a doughnut dome at the base, like Sna's wife's, or just regular martini's?

Hmmmm...decisions...decisions....

I would just go for the regular martini in WG. I think Plat for earrings is a bit of overkill, but that''s just me! As for the back, I think I''d ask Lesley what would be better, if either, for such a large stone.

WhooHoo !!!!!

Those are yummydelicious!!

Ya know, I don''t know much about the settings. I did talk to Brian one day about resetting my studs in a Martini setting, but never went through with it.
I love the 3 prong setting, it seems to stand straight and forward facing unlike a 4 prong setting. (my 4-prong fell downwards)
But I don''t know about the dome. Educate me here for a second, what does it do? If the dome is there does it push the setting further off the lobe?

Very happy for you and your new pretties!!

Whatever you get just make sure you make sure they are secure in your ears!

Actually, I was thinking the same about platinum.

Indeed, I will ask Lesley what she''d recommend.

Thanks, Ellen.

I LOVE martini's. I think they're *the best*, the bees knees, so to speak.

I think the dome helps to prevent the martinis from going too far into yr ear-holes, as otherwise they might stretch the holes.

(BTW, still totally in love with yr gorgeous ring!!

If I ever manage to get diamond earrings I will probably be checking them every few minutes! I would be really upset if I lost one!

I can tell you are an earring girl lol!!

Whiteflash is doing palladium now. My guess is Brian is also to stay competitive. Just another alternative to consider. Palladium is very nice looking.

YAY!!! I am so excited for you Phoenix, can''t wait for you to get them. We''ll need a ton of pics!!!!

Congrats! Those are going to be an amazing pair of earrings.

Normally, I would suggest WG (and that is what I picked out) but for the fabulous pair you''re getting, I would go full-out and get platinum in friction back. Also, get those insured before you wear them!

OMG, those are my *dream* earrings! I''d love to have LM set them but he takes soooo long, plus it''d be a bit more than what I''d like to spend on settings.

I may ask Lesley to see if BGD can do them.

YAY!!

MC, thank you so much. Yay, I think so too!

I''d loooooveee to get platinum but the cost is just so prohibitive! Not sure if hubby would let me drop much more money on the setting, after paying for those babies!

Btw, PS''ers, I tried on a pair of 2.30ct each earring at a local B&M today and they looked magnificient!! Not big at all, *just* right!

ditto. Cannot wait to see them!

Thanks, guys.

I''m working out the setting with Lesley now. I''m going with the 3-prong martini''s, though still trying to decide between Pt and 18k WG. Should have the studs in hopefully a couple of weeks'' time, shipping and insurance scheduling permitting. Yay!!
