Hello All,

Thought i'd included my progress on making a Engagement ring for my future fiancé "Still saving up for making the setting". I've gone through the process of acquiring a rough stone from Blaze at blazengems and then had Michael E. cut the rough stone.

10.89ct Rough Montana sapphire, was looking for a blueish teal look. Overall i wanted atleast a 7.5mm-8mm round cut stone.

I got a 8mm 2.71ct "Portuguese" style cut.
The first pictures are rough cut, the rest are outside and led photo's given to me by Michael E.

This is kinda the ring style i'm leaning towards in rose gold. I'm trying to mix a ring into a wedding band + engagement ring.

Wow, it turned out beautifully!! I love the colors in the stone--it almost looks like a tanzanite with all of the blue/green flashes. I'm so glad it worked out and I like your ideas for settings as well!!!

Your stone is a beautiful colour, and looks very sparkly, too. Thanks for sharing the process from rough to finish with us. Very interesting. Please come back to show us the ring when it's done.

Great observation, Lovedogs, as it does almost look dichroic. It is a dramatic change from the alluvial pebble to that masterpiece of cutting. Has your girlfriend seen the stone, or do you know that she likes that color?

Wow, is that ever pretty. And one of a kind!

Just my preference is that I like to have a separate wedding band. I wear it on its own as well as with my engagement ring.

Looks good! I really hope she loves it!

Beautiful stone! I like the soft appearance with the almost multiple coloring. Thanks for sharing your story and pics from rough to cut gem. I always enjoy these.

That is so pretty! I love Montana sapphires, how special that you got to select the rough to have cut for your engagement ring! Congrats! I look forward to seeing more pics!

Very pretty! Thank you for sharing the process from rough to cut. Your setting ideas look lovely too! :appl:

Great post/pics, congrats on a beautiful stone. Montanas can be so unusual, I love how this one looks - I think it looks beautiful in each lighting scenario. Well done and thank you for sharing!

How truly special! I love that you faceted a stone. :appl: And it turned out beautifully. Well done! Montanas have such personalities; I'm sure it'll shine in the setting you have in mind.

She has not seen the stone yet! or even the rough stone. I've picked this out with pictures she has liked and taken her to a bunch of jewelry shops. She basically will love anything i create for her, it's a surprise but at the same time she knows it's coming. Her dad has seen the rough stone and i'll be showing him the faceted one tonight. We are going to be watching hockey tonight.

Personally, these pictures still do no justice to drastic change in color. It's amazing and i couldn't of even fathomed how well it turned out. I took these with a iPhone 6, so bare with me! Haha.
