D~
I love the new band! I love it stacked and with your Maytal, and I love that it's antique and lacy looking. I could be verrrrry biased though, 'cause I'm pining for an alternating RB/EC band I saw in town. Would love to see hand shots when you're able. Maytal's photo is incredible! Looks like it should be on a Tiff's website or something. WOW!

It''s so beautiful and classic! Would love to see more photos!

It''s beautiful! I love the emerald cut!

I love the bands stacked together!!

Dem, the new band is very pretty - looks very sparkly! Would love to see a picture of it with your new emerald ering.

What are your thoughts on keeping it?

Funny, every time I see this I think it says "Hannah Montana" ring...

Gorgeous rings!

Demelza, your entire set is just gorgeous! I''m in love with that Pearlman''s ring, and saw it come back up on his site and was wondering who had snapped it up! I''m so happy it went to you, I just LOVE it with your Maytal ring!

Also, your ebay find is stunning! Would you mind letting those of us know who the seller was?

Skippy -- Thanks for your sweet words.

Tacori -- From one EC lover to another, thanks.

OFG -- Thanks!

Somehowcollide -- I know what you mean about Ebay. This is by far the most expensive thing I''ve bought off Ebay and it really was rather impulsive, but that''s partly what made it so fun. Just one click with the mouse and it''s mine!

Jenn -- Thanks for the compliments. I also wanted to say how happy I am for you that you found your gorgeous ring!! I have a 21 month old and realize now that I really should keep my jewelry box FAR away from her.

Pixley -- DO TELL!!! What is this band you saw in town?? Is it old? Are they baguettes or ECs? Are you thinking of buying it?? More details, please!

dotb -- Thanks. I actually do have a few more pics I''ll post shortly.

Mrs Guz -- Thanks!

Maisie -- Thanks! I''m really into stacking these days. Wish I had longer fingers.

MGR -- I think I''ll keep it -- I only have one more day left to decide and I think I''ll regret sending it back. These little delicate antique bands with baguettes are hard to find and this was a good price, so I think it''s a keeper.

AprilBaby -- Thanks!

Lauren -- Thanks so much! I''m really glad I ended up with the Pearlman''s ring too. I''m happy to share who the Ebay seller is. Her seller name is Lucky223. She''s a Power Seller with 100% feedback. She had quite a few relatively inexpensive vintage/estate items listed, but they''re now either sold or the auction ended. She was very nice -- I''d have no problem buying from her again.

Okay, here are a few handshots of the two rings together.

YAY! The knuckle, she is feeling better, no? You cannot send that pretty band back! I am really addicted to the alternating patterns on the band and it just works with the alternating shapes on your ring.

The one in town is appraised as an EC/RB bezel set eternity and I adore it but A) it''s about 2 sizes too big for me and B) it''s WG, but I can''t stop thinking about it. The antique store owner says it came from a source in England who collects antique rings, but wouldn''t a proper antique band have been set in plat like yours??? It also has no dings, which I find strange. Anyhoo, your new band is a true antique and it''s delicious.

What a shame it's too big for you. I wonder if Ari could size it for you. He did such a great job with Surfgirl's ring. Does it look good with your SS band? I do think some old rings were set in WG; that alone wouldn't make me think it isn't an antique, but what do I know! It does seem odd that it doesn't have any dings or scratches. Is it possible they were all polished out? How old is he claiming it is? Is the shop reputable?

BTW, how long have you been living in BC?

Ooh, must go check out Surfgirl's thread... I don't want to jack your thread, but those are good points and I'll ask around re: their reputation. If it's still there, maybe I'll see if I can take a few photos.

We moved here from San Francisco in Dec. 2000 after several visits, how 'bout you?

I my gosh those hand shots make me tipsy. Just stunning. All of your rings are so beautiful. You have fantastic taste!

FYI, the french cut ring that Ari sized for Surfgirl is in the last few pages of her ering thread. Her thread was just bumped actually and is currently on the first page of SMTR. Ari sized it up for her 2 sizes, I believe. I wonder if it''s just as possible to go down 2 sizes. YES, YES, YES, please take some photos!! I''d love to see it! Are there many nice jewelry stores near you? For a big city, Vancouver has very few good jewelery stores. Or perhaps I just don''t know where to look being a relative newbie. The prices here, however, are insane anyway, so it might be best I don''t know where to look.

We moved from California to Bellingham, WA (one of my most favorite places on earth) in 2003 and moved to Vancouver in 2005. We were just in Marin visiting my in-laws and I must say I do love it there. As much as I dislike what''s going on in the US politically (hopefully things will improve in November!), I do miss living there and would love to move back. Even after living here for 3 years, Canada just doesn''t quite feel like home to me.

Hi Dem ~
35.gif

I wish I could tell you a magic number of years for when it would feel like home, but I think I felt pretty at home here early on. Our neighbors were so kind to us and I think that made a world of difference to have a support system immediately. People here are so open compared to in SF, but every city has it's own personality and sometimes you click or you don't. I LOVE parts of Marin so I could see how a visit there would make you nostalgic. I wonder if Van is too big to take in and feel a part of right away? The scale here is definitely smaller than anyplace I've lived, but that's part of the charm. As for jewelry and shopping in general - we have nada here, which is why I had to get everything from the U.S.! It's good to know that I'm not missing out on anything in Vancouver, 'cause I really thought I was up until you said that!

Hi Dem,

I am mesmerized by your set!! What a gorgeous EC and wedding band!! Too beautiful for words. I just love EC''s! (obviously). I''m just curious...I''m working on a custom EC set myself...how long did it take you from start to finish to get yours done??

Ditto! I love that little antique wedding band you got to go with the Maytal ring! I am not a huge fan of baguette-only eternity bands, but I love how the sets of 2 rounds break up the baguettes on yours - perfect to pair with a ring where the center stone is flanked by baguettes, which I always like. You may have told the story one of your older threads, but what is the story behind how you came to have the EC ring? (i.e. the original ring you got the center stone from) Do you have any plans for the old setting? I love how the Maytal ring turned out.

Fly Girl -- Thanks!

Pixley -- I definitely don''t love Vancouver and I think that is part of the problem. It''s beautiful here, but my heart really belongs to Bellingham. I felt at home there almost immediately. We moved up here because the commute was too much for my husband and, as lovely as the city is, it just doesn''t speak to me. We''re planning to move to another section of the city (somewhere a bit less busy and more rustic) in the next year or two, so I''m hoping that helps some. Do you come to Vancouver much? I haven''t been to Victoria yet, but I''d love to see it one of these days.

IluvEmeralds -- Thanks! I look forward to seeing your lovely stone. It sounds like a beauty. As for how long it took from start to finish: I started talking to Maytal about the project in late May, sent her my stone early/mid June and had the ring in hand end of July. Hope that helps.

OFG -- There''s no great story behind the EC. I''d always loved step cuts and bought it for myself several years before we got engaged. I''ve had it in more settings than I care to count and they just never worked for me. I almost traded it in when I upgraded my round a couple of years ago, but changed my mind at the last minute. I don''t know what I''ll do with the old setting, but I will almost surely try to sell it either on Ebay or through Pearlman''s. I doubt I''ll get much, but it''s better that than sitting in my jewelry box for years.
