Yay, so we finally turned the key, and my new diamond is on the way. I am upgrading my original diamond for our 10-year wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately, we bought the original (which is a now-defunct branded cut with 100 facets) from a store without an upgrade policy, and those b&m stores that were willing to take it and apply it to the purchase of a new stone were also willing to charge about, oh, 80% more for a diamond than anything I found online.
So, I''m getting something new, and keeping the sentimental stone for either a pendant or a RHR (I''ve had WF do a quote for a custom setting).
Old stone is a .50 carat, centillion-cut RB, no other stats available
We were 19 when engaged, so not precisely diamond-educated. It''s sparkly, and I''d guess G-H in color. Hardly worth an appraisal after all this time and for such a little guy.
My new baby is an .818 ACA, H SI1, eyeclean, and so purty. Stats:
. Shape: A Cut Above H&A
. Carat: 0.818
. Depth %: 61.4
. Table %: 55.9
. Crown Angle: 34.9
. Crown %: 15.3
. Star : 54
. Pavilion Angle: 40.7
. Pavilion %: 42.8
. Lower Girdle %: 77
. Girdle: Thin to Medium Faceted
. Measurements: 5.99-6.02X3.69
. Light Performance: 0
. Polish: Ideal
. Symmetry: Ideal
. Culet: Pointed
. Fluorescence: Negligible
We''re setting it in a WF Legato Sleek Lines setting.
I LOVE the upgrade policy, since we''ll definitely be taking advantage of it in a better sales year, when the year-end bonus is not so meager
Anyway, I can''t say enough good things about the folks at WF, especially James Ramey, who has been very patient and responsive, and so darned helpful.
