Julia has just finished the design portion of my key and now I am (im) patiently waiting for her to begin the actual key. I thought that I would share the designs in the mean time.

This is the rough sketch. I really like it so Julia then completed a more finalized version.

This is sketch #2. My DH had the idea to add an A (our last name) to the bottom of the key. However, when I saw it I decided that it was "too much" along with the initials in the top of the key.

This is the 3rd sketch without the A on the key. I think that I like this one better.

What do you think? Did I make the right choice?

I absolutely love it! Her script is second to none!

Here's a thought, ask her to turn the A around...on the blade away from the shaft...so what I mean is to match the base of the letter A to the two notches on the blade. Do you see that? (just in another drawing...to be sure).

She may not have room for all the frills in her letter a, but I so love your DH's idea, I don't want you to leave any option of having the A on the table! Especially getting him involved. That is so sweet to me!

another thought...(You could put it on the back of the blade!)

Which ever way you go...it is going to be stunning, there really isn't a right or wrong way with Julia's work!

Can't wait to see it!

PS>..is the RC all you or combination of he and you?

Great design.

Beautiful design!! It''s gonna be stunning! Can''t wait to see the real deal!

Thanks so much for the ideas! I should have mentioned that he also decided he didn''t like the A once he saw it.
Yes, the R is my first initial and the C is his. I think the idea is so romantic. The key symbol has been special throughout or entire relationship since he always tells me that "his heart is locked with me inside". I have always wanted a key but never found one quite special enough until now.

Well, then in that case, you are good to go! Yes, yes, yes... you made the right decision to omit the A!

I so adore that he tells you that. Think you got yourself a keeper! (in him, not just in the key!)

Yes, the more I look at the third design the more I like it. Also, DH is so sweet to me and I totally don''t deserve it!

Absolutely beautiful design! So romantic *sigh*

You know what you lucky girl? You already have an A in Julia''s design...

Can you find it?

I can''t see it. It must be like one of those 3D pictures. LOL

The "waist" of the R...you know it is belted? That is the top of the A...it is a capital letter...and the OH poo the image disappears when you are writing...I was going to flip back and forth and give you a play by play.

The A is sideways...(or laying on it''s side)and it is only there...because the two of you are together...(Oh my)...I mean because the two letters or R and C join.

Ok, so it is a ever so slight stretch, but it is there! Wink Wink!

PS...yes, those 3d images...like that episode of Seinfeld, where the boss of Elaine is obsessed before a board meeting? too funny!

LOL! I love it! Aren''t you a clever girl. I was staring to go cross-eyed trying to see it. Thanks for relieving me from my struggle.

Aren''t you a clever girl... INSERT: BIG QUESTION MARK!

No, (not clever, just a tad crazy!),

I just want your Hubbys A in there...and I was determined to find him one! I think you could say here is the R the C and the A...and it would be believable.

If she hasn''t started yet, it could be enhanced more.

But I like how it just HAPPENED to be there...and the fact it wouldn''t be if you too weren''t married! Awe!!!

Her work is so effortless anyway...it never looks forced. Please promise to return with the finished product! I really am excited for you!

You are so cute! I am probably more excited about this piece than anything else (besides my engagement ring) because it has so much personal meaning to me. I think it is going to become my signature pendant. Thanks for being excited with me! I will be sure to post any "in" progress pictures that Julia sends me. She is SOOOOOOOOO talented.

Ok so I know that I am irrationally impatient but my design was finalized last Thursday and I was kind of hoping that Julia might have had some news of progress for me by now. Waiting is not my strong suit.

Almost a tragic happening:
Last night at dinner, I told my husband that I was hoping that my key might be done this week. He told me that he had realized the night before that the final payment had been sent to the wrong email address. He contacted PayPal and they said they would look for the money. Ahhhh! I was so worried that Julia hadn''t been able to start my key on time because it looked like we hadn''t made our last payment. I also didn''t want her to think that we were unreliable customers, since we plan on doing lots more business with her (I have two more projects in mind). My DH emailed the payment to Julia last night. This morning she emailed me and told me that she had already started my key with the batch that she has been working on (she is so wonderful t work with). Yeah! She said she thinks it will be done sometime in the next few days. I should have some pics for you guys soon!

can''t wait!

I''m going to get one of Julia''s keys. I think they are so special. Having your initials in there makes it a truly personal piece. Beautiful.

beautiful design! I hope it''s finished soon and we get more pictures!

Hmmm...I see an A if you hold it upside down, enclosing the other letters. Either way, it''s gorgeous!

I think that is the prettiest design I have seen so far (they are all so pretty!)

I think so too, but I am just a little biased!

So I got to see a picture of the rough version of my key yesterday. So exciting!

can''t wait to see it!!!!!!!

I just heard from Julia and my key is done! She said that I should expect it by this weekend. I am so excited to finally see this idea in real life.
P.S. I have been a member of this site for less than a year and have already done two custom pieces (for a teacher with a limited budget that is a lot).

Woo HOO!

What a great track record Blackberry! Were you into jewelry before ps? Did ps direct you differently once you came here? If so how? I know of your JKT piece, what was your other one?

I have been into jewelry since I was a little girl. My grandmother would go through her jewelry box and tell me where all of her pieces came from. She likes to tell people that I cut my teeth on a gold chain (which I now have). Even as a child I wouldn''t wear any of the plastic stuff that kids had because they were "fake". LOL. When I was a teenager my friends would bring me the gifts that their boyfriends had bought them and I would "appraise" them. And most special to me, I have had a hand in designing wedding/engagement rings for 4 of my friends.
I am very sentimental about my jewelry and besides watches I don''t like to buy jewelry for myself (even though I could). I like to wear pieces that were given to my by special people in my life, namely DH. I actually make jewelry that I sell in small shops in Seattle but I don''t even wear my own stuff.
PS has totally changed my viewpoint on jewelry and where and how to buy it. I love that I feel more educated that even. I also really enjoy knowing that there are other people out there that know more about jewelry than the people working in the jewelry shops (sometimes).
My original engagement setting was custom made but selected by my DH. I fell in love with the James Meyer 1345 last May and knew it had to be mine. I got the setting in August and my key is the second piece. My next project will be resetting my pink sapphire into a sterling JKT setting. I need to wait until at least fall so my DH can gave break from my constant comments about my current project. I feel like I have so many more fun options now!

Wow, sorry for the life story!

NO don''t apologize...that was a great story! I really loved learning how the little girl in you...made you the jewelry loving one you are today! I have a similar childhood, but gladly wore anything I could. Plastic, or organic seeds or pine cones or shells I would do it. Hey, What about the candy necklaces? Still a no go for you? (it was edible and quite tasty. Comforting as you always had food in case of becoming lost or stranded. It was a go for me!)

You''ve got me excited about your pink sapphire next project! What piece are you thinking about? Sounds to me...like there just may be a future for you in design...sounds like you have alot you have already accomplished.

Well, just a little longer to wait...your key will be here in no time!

I would really like to see what we all loved wearing when we were little girls!
As far as my sapphire goes it is a watermelon pink, long princess cut stone that I currently have set east to west in a plain white gold band. I always intened to reset it but the hubby is dragging his feet. I saw this ring a couple of weeks ago and I want to use it as inspiration for my reset.
This one is by JKT and belongs to Vizla

I got my key today but I am not permitted to look at it until my husband gets home tonight. Pics to come ASAP!
