Looking for example photos of 2mm and 2.5mm diamonds, preferably in a ring. Location (eg: side stones, halo, etc.) doesn't matter.

I need to decide between those sizes for a ring being made, and seeing real life examples (vs CAD) would be very helpful for me. Thanks!

The ring is 2.2mm wide with 9 diamonds that total 0.27ctw. So, these are 0.03ct each. It is a narrow ring. The diamonds are probably close to 2mm in diameter. In person, the ring is narrow.

at that size I don't know you would see a huge difference 2.5 mm is equal to 1/10 of an inch so very small/petite.

Thank you. I'm hoping to see examples on a hand; it's perspective that I'm trying to grasp. Do you happen to own that ring?

I thought that as well, but when I compared them side by side on diamdb I was surprised at how much larger it looked (see below - 2mm on the left and 2.5mm on the right). I'm wanting them to look like small accent diamonds to enhance the 1ct center stone; I'm trying to walk the thin line between being too noticeable and not look like diamond chips. I'm kind of shooting myself in the foot setting them in a kite orientation, as that makes them about 40% taller related to the center stone height, but I like the "something different" it provides. I'm attaching photos of me wearing the plastic mold in case it helps, as well as a to-scale mock-up of the two frenchie sizes beside the center stone. In real life they'll look smaller since they'll be set lower and angled, but it should give a good idea. I welcome any opinions on which would give the look I'm going for!!

Both rings in the videos are US size 7.5. Top is a 1.88 ct H&A round in a cushion halo with band width of just under 2 mm. Bottom is a 3.08 ct H&A round in a solitaire with band width of just under 2.5 mm. The diamond melee are all H&A rounds.

Screenshot of the rings in case the videos don’t load. The ~0.5 mm difference in the diameter of the melee H&A rounds is very much visible and memorable in person. The increase in face up size is over 50% after all. It should be a similar size difference going from 2 mm to 2.5 mm squares.

As long as the diamonds are well cut they are not going to look like diamond chips even at 2 mm. I think 2 mm looks more delicate and 2.5 mm looks more substantial.

The stones in my engagement ring are 2.5mm the eternity is about 2mm.The ring is Size 7. The halo is in 1.5mm. From a distance no big difference to me. Up close you can see. IMG_4484.jpegIMG_4482.jpeg

Thank you! This is super helpful and really shows what I needed to see.

This is great, thank you!

Good luck with the project!

You can buy CZ in various sizes and shapes on Etsy. It may help you to have them in hand to play with.

The alternate CAD came in today, showing the 2.5mm side stones. I put this photo together to directly compare the 2mm vs 2.5mm. It's crazy how much larger the 1/2mm looks!

My side stones were round; they are ~2.7mm but am posting because I did the “set them apart in a bezel” thing so maybe it is helpful. I almost went with “set them in a square in a kite orientation” like your kite orientation — kind of wish I had because it wasn’t quite right and I ended up resetting the stones, even though the original setting was quite nice..

Anyway for yours IMHO the smaller look like a ring with side stones and the bigger looks like a trilogy type ring. I like the smaller stones but it depends on on taste.

Oh what a beautiful ring!

Thanks for your input. And yes, I think you nailed exactly what I am seeing, but didn't have the words for it. The larger stones look more like a trilogy ring, whereas I just want a small accent on either side of the center stone. I've gone ahead and given them the OK for the CAD with the smaller diamonds, so now I just wait for the ring!

I hope this helps a bit?

Thank you! I appreciate this =)2

I think you made the right choice in this case. The smaller sides create a more harmonious proportion and keep the focus on the center diamond.
