I have been copying you...doing that whole ''working'' thing...
28.gif

It''s been a stressful few weeks, and it''s always in ebbs and flows...

Glad I popped in for some eyecandy...

That makes the 2 of us. Apparently, my oesophagus is being eroded from all that acid. Sorry if it''s TMI.

Thanks, Harriet.

And I am sorry to hear that. I actually had the same exact problem towards the end of my full time employment with Ernst & Young a couple of yrs back. All that stress, the ungodly working hrs and not taking regular meals! You must take it easy, Harriet. I know it''s easier said than done and especially when one is so career-conscious, like I was and like I can tell you are. But you really have to try to learn to detach yrself from work. Pls take care of yrself, your heath comes first, above everything else. Work will always be there. I hope I don''t sound patronising, but I''ve been there, done that, and believe me, nothing is worth sacrificing yr health for.

Wow, congrats Harriet! These are gorgeous! I am soooo happy for you!!!
36.gif

And this is with slightly blurry photos! I can only imagine how totally beautiful they must be in person! I love the size on your ear. They are so sophisticated. They will be perfect for your wedding.
I was about ready to bust a gasket! Sorry again that I felt so frustrated. Forgive me. Glad you have them!
Thanks Starry! You frightened me for a moment, but no worries.
1.gif
Will these match your necklace?
2.gif
Yes - sorry. A few things - first, I kept checking the new posts this morning and there were no pictures - just "false alarms". I''m not patient, in case you hadn''t noticed.
2.gif
My apologies to Ellen too.

Second, I think I also felt a little bad/frustrated for your DF - this is an incredibly sweet gesture and we talked instead about other HW pieces that you didn''t have. This made me feel sad and frustrated.

Third, I also felt frustrated with myself for "enabling" in a bad way. I want you to appreciate all of the beautiful things you have rather than think about the things you don''t have. Pricescope can be dangerous that way because there will always be people with bigger or nicer diamonds, more pieces, etc., so it sets up a natural vacuum. I don''t want you to feel like you don''t have "enough".

Enjoy these earrings - your DF is such a caring, kind person to present them to you, even after you had chosen the studs. You are very fortunate!

Well I suppose it's par for the course... I think I had my first ulcer diagnosed at 19, but back then I was in the legal field (as you are), and now I just learn to relax a bit. But being a perfectionist with too few hours in the day can start to take a toll on the whole body, not just the esophogus! I had to get an EMERGENCY facial midweek, because I felt like i was ready to die under the pressures of short work days and long projects! No time for the message or mani/pedi, which i rescheduled like 3 times... Shopping isn't even an option anymore....
39.gif

Get rest, drink water, eat light, and excerise in the meanwhile. I have no idea what year associate you are but there is an end to it. But remember that there's work, then there's life...and when you leave that office, you need to live life, and learn to let work remain in that realm.

Now go look at diamonds!

I can understand impatience.

Please don''t feel bad for my DF. Believe it or not, it was he who brought up the other pieces! Originally, I did not want a necklace, but he''s been shopping around. Isn''t he sweet?
30.gif

Please don''t feel bad about yourself either. When I refer to you as my "favourite enabler," all it is is a term of affection (I''ll cease if you like). I''m a big girl and can/should control myself. Both DF and I are highly competitive people, but we''re well aware that there will also be prettier/smarter/richer people than us. Don''t feel bad!
17.gif

Oh, the studs were a gift from my parents, not my DF. I wouldn''t ask him for so much!

Thanks, Lien! We should have a good talk when we meet. Btw, E&Y told me to call if I wanted a better lifestyle!

Thanks to you too, Nicrez. I''ll try to put all that into practice. PS is a great escape.

Harriet! I love them! I can''t wait to see more photos, though!!!
30.gif

I got off work early today for an appointment which was just in time to catch the new earring pictures! I love them Harriet! I am really glad you got the real thing! I don't think you'll ever regret it...and good thinking on your DF's part!!!

Harriet,

OMG they are absolutely STUNNING. Please MORE pictures.

Linda

From what I can see in the pics they look beautiful!! Very elegant!

Harriet, you gonna knock off early so we can have more pics??

starry, no biggie.

Thanks everyone! I get the hint.

In the meantime, these pictures are better than anything I can rustle up. Btw, now that you've seen an (admittedly blurry) ear-shot), are they work-appropriate or not?:

DS,
I'm glad the other half bought these. To be in proportion with my studs, the jackets would have been huge, which is not my style (for earrings at least).

Harriet, those pics do nothing for me. I want the real deal.

*looking at watch*

I''ll give you 5 hours to post new ones. That''s getting you off at 5 and leaving 2 hours for travel time, shooting, cropping and posting.

Ellen,
I''m lucky if I get off at 5 on a Friday!

Even you have those days, right?
Yes, go see my thread called Guilty.

I think exercise helps a lot and having awesome coworkers (both I have). Also, hugging my sweet husband at the end of the day makes everything better. Also, appreciating simple pleasures in life; like my 1 year old nephew's giggle.

I understand taking work home and waking up in the middle of the night figuring out a problem and wanting to do your best. When I was working I set 1 day aside to do a me day. I usually would finish up little pieces of work Saturdays and relax on Sunday.

Yah, for better days. When we think we can't get out of a stressful day, there are better days right around the corner.
emhot.gif
Also, Harriet if it gets to be too much, get out. There are always better jobs; you may not be there but always remember that. Quality of life is much more important.

didn't mean to write a book. heehehe

I tell myself "tomorrow is a new day, tomorrow is a new day..."

Those are stunning earrings - so classy!

Thank you.

Oh Harriet..... sigh. I am so jealous... in a good way. They''re really an heirloom piece. Congratulations,
