Oh no don''t give up. From my very vast experience with dropping and loosing jewlery bits, they always turn up just abit further out then where you thought you dropped it so extend that surch area!

Murphy''s law, you''ll find it just as soon as you buy a replacement.

I''m sorry Katie.....keep the faith...it is out there somewhere!

Lol. This reminds me of the blue spinel that I dropped and it rolled under the fridge. Yeah.

You''ll find it eventually. I''m keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, I''m so sorry. I really hope you find it!!!

Oh, katie, I''m so sorry that happened. Please don''t give up hope, the little sucker is out there somewhere!!

Katie, Barry at ACS has a drop coming up on 5/1 at 10 am. He may have some stones that would interest you. Alternatively, you can contact him to see if he has anything affordable that would be a color and price range you could afford. I recently got a tourmaline from him that is to die for in terms of saturated color. I now have 2 more stones coming. He is really awesome and will help you find something you can afford.

So sorry still about that lovely stone you lost.

I''m sorry. I did that with a silver ring once in a brook. I took it off my hand and dropped it and never found it. It''s a terrible feeling. Good luck finding it or finding one to replace it.

Ugh, what rotten luck. It''s a horrible feeling. I hope you find it!

thanks so much everyone! I''ll keep an eye out on Dan''s and Barry''s sites for affordable garnets. I don''t think I''ll even bother looking any more for my lost stone. The longer I look, the more frustrated I get. I''ve started to just accept the fact that it''s gone now. Ce la vie... (or however you spell that!)

HI:

Total bummer!

oh no- so sorry, katie. This ALMOST happened to me too- I was playing with a couple stones outside and had them in my hand when the little box opened up as I was walking, and they just hit the ground

I knew vaguely where they had landed and it still took my hubby and me searching the pavement for 30 min to find them. One of them was undamaged, but the other chipped the culet. I felt sooooo stupid. (still need to email barry and see if he might be able to fix it!)

Yep, I feel like an idiot for losing that stone!

My hubby does NOT let me carry my loose stones around with me anymore, because it was so traumatic haha

oh no, i hope you find it, maybe try again tomorrow early morning with a fresh awakened eyes.... i hope it shows up for you.

I was hoping you found it today. I lost a red garnet on the while kitchen floor and NEVER did find it. You think that would stick out like a sore thumb. The coolest one I lost was a 3mm round color change sapphire that changed from red to blue - like an idiot I was looking at it in my lap and I dropped it down the side of the chair. I searched and searched but only found dust and fuzz. Rats.

don''t give up - you know it''s out there. It didn''t just "run away" - it''s out there someplace. I lost a diamond out of my engagement ring playing volleyball in the backyard at a barbeque once, I had a full blown anxiety attack over it. It took us a few days of scouring, literally picking the grass with our hands to find it, but we did... just keep hoping and stay positive... it''s there.

This really stinks. Maybe it just wasn''t meant to be for you. Hopefully you can find anther stone in your pirce range that is even better. That would be awesome!

Yep, my take on it is that it just wasn''t meant to be! I did look again yesterday and again, didn''t find it. We did, however, find a teeny tiny little baby bunny in the yard! Maybe that was the silver lining?

If anyone has free time to play and look around, and wants to help me start the search again for something similar, I''ll take all suggestions! Looking for a round stone, approx. 6mm, chunky facets if possible, am open to umbalite/rhodolite garnets that aren''t too dark, tourmalines (pink but not neony pink), lavendar/pinkish spinel, or any stone that''s blueish/purplish and really sparkly. Don''t want yellow or green stones, but could go for a blue-green tourmaline or other stone. Don''t really have a number in my head for what I want to spend but I want it to be inexpensive (ideally less than $100 for the stone). I hope Barry''s next drop will have something in it I like and can afford. If not, I''ll just wait a while. There''s no hurry.

Thanks again everyone!

I feel awful too, Katie. This was my greatest worry when I was taking pictures of my gemstones to post here in CS. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one day you'll see this purple red flash in the grass and it'll be your stone. I've dropped gemstones on the carpet before (I'm a natural born klutz) and they surprisingly bounced further than I expected.

Anything''s possible right?

Thanks though - you guys have all made me feel better. At least I''m not the only one who''s ever lost a stone!
