I've got two votes for #5. Reasons please? That way I can explain it to my friend :)

Good mix of color, good price for the size, and doesn't seem as though it would be too dark when set. Even though it's more expensive than some of the others it's also much larger. Overall my favorite for sure :)

I agree with the comments about the larger stone, as for number 1, I don't know if its zoning of an issue of inclusions or what but it has a look to if I don't like (this is my lack of colored stone knowledge showing!)

I think OTL had a really bad time with gemhunters. Based on her post they seem extremely untrustworthy. So if your considering their stones I'd read her post first.

This is why I come here! Good to know all the info :)

Thanks for the link.

So she wants a soli...yes? No diamonds outside stones at all?

How adventurous is she willing to get with the soli setting?

Re: My friend is looking for a 5-6mm round sapphire - help p

classic three stone diamond ring?

he may want to use his remaining budget, rather than the 1k allotted, for that just because proportionate side stones will cost a bit of money if he goes with the larger sapphire... larger center means larger sides, kwim?

Yes, I think he will likely spend more like $2k on the setting!

He's torn between #1 and #5. No firm decisions on the setting yet.

How would YOU choose between #1 and #5? He may end up ordering both and returning the one that he doesn't like best.

Update: just emailed both companies and politely requested more photos. Hopefully they're able to deliver! :)

From Seda Gems:

"My website is having some problems at the moment with the eCommerce side of things but I have that stone listed on another website called Gem Rock Auctions (it's like an Ebay but only for gems!). They have a really nice user interface. You can view the stone here:

https://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/sapphire/sapphire-gemstones/australian-sapphire-gemstones/item-540213""

Is Gem Rock Auctions legit? Looks pretty normal...

I know that multiple trusted vendors use Gem Rock Auctions, so I don't know how "legit" the website is but I do know that multiple vendors trust it enough to use it to sell. I also trust Seda Gems from my communications with them and seeing reviews online, but have never purchased from them directly. Overall I would trust that website, especially if there's a return policy that is clearly written when you buy.

Hmm now they have a chrysoberyl on there ...but from a random vendor. I imagine its like ebay. It comes down to the individual vendor
