So, after much help from @Kim N and @DejaWiz I decided after much looking, that started off as 3ct, to purchasing a 4.21 D VS1 round brilliant. 10.34 x 10.36 x 6.37 mm
So it ticked all the boxes! I was put in touch with a fantastic Jeweller who I did a lot of zoom and what’s app back and forth with ideas, pictures, cad and revisions!
I wanted something fairly simple, and secure as a fairly substantial size Diamond!! But also keeping it as dainty as possible without to much metal in the setting. What he has come up with fits everything I have asked for. One of the first real big decisions was 6 or 8 prong, and band with, after seeing the cad I went with a 6 prong and about a 2.8mm band. We started off with the Tiffany setting and refined it after there. The setting has somewhat as he described as a spiders web design, so very secure, and the platinum setting is dainty, and small pointed claws! That was another decision. He has set it as low as he can, so it hasn’t caught on anything. I am wearing it with a platinum band 3mm. Now, that doesn’t sit flush with it, I am having a ring fit band made for it, so I can wear both or stay with the little gap. But the ring fit will let me as a 5/7 stone with it if I want to in the future.
I’ll be honest, it’s big, I’m still getting used to that, I do love it, but don’t see myself going any bigger!! And I have a size 8 finger! But hitting the 10mm in size was a thing for me and I have got there with this.
I don’t wear yellow gold, and don’t like colour in diamonds, neither are for me. So it was always going to be a D colour and platinum set. I am delighted with it, still can’t get over how white it is. You can’t miss it!!! This certainly won’t be my first and last lab grown purchase, and I really enjoyed the design process, and it has ended up as everything I thought it could be, even if I am still getting used to the size !
So all the pictures coming!!! including the cad for the final design and the 6-8 prong choice!
