I love antique rings, gemstones and a good cluster! This is my most recent find: Antique Victorian 4 carat Colombian Emerald ring, with 2.4 carats of old mine cut diamonds in silver over 18k gold. This is my first sizeable emerald, and these pics do not capture the intensity or true color. The inclusions are also showing up more in the pics. The glow is absolutely unreal irl, and it’s the most transparent/glowy emerald I’ve seen. It’s old cut as well. Like some fine quality Columbia’s emeralds, under Uv light it has a soft pinkish/red glow (not intense like a synthetic or a ruby). I need to send it to GIA - suspect minor oil
- but GIA will say for sure! Would love any thoughts from emerald experts. Irl the color is an intense apple green with lots of glow. These pics don’t really show it well. In the macro close up shots, you can see the velvety/drops of oil like effect - I’ve been reading about the rare Gota de Aceite effect in Columbian emeralds - could this be it or am I imagining it? Under a microscope they appear to be tiny hexagonal shapes...
I wish I could get the Emerald to show the true color - it’s about 2 shades darker than the photos and very intense glowy green.
