I purchased a beautiful August Vintage Cushion from Good Old Gold (great experience--separate post) and was excited to get it set. This was a college graduation present for my daughter, so I wanted something special she would cherish for her whole life. Before purchasing the stone, I had already picked out a setting on the website of a custom ring designer who, for now, will remain unnamed. Needless to say, I was shocked and disappointed when he turned down the job because I didn't purchase the center stone from him. So, I posted on Pricescope asking for recommendations, and several people on here mentioned Maytal Hanna. Her reviews on Pricescope were very good and she was also located in California, so I decided to give Maytal a call. I also contacted a couple of other suggested designers on the West Coast, but Maytal was by far the most responsive, creative and stood out by far. I can't begin to describe what a wonderful person she is, and how easy Maytal is to work with. Although I had a general idea of what I wanted, I had lots of questions and was open to suggestions. Maytal was extremely patient, and had lots of ideas to enhance the center stone, and make the ring delicate looking but sturdy enough for an active young adult. Although Maytal looks very young, it was clear from the outset that she was an experienced professional, having worked at GIA, Tiffany, and other well known jewelry designers. My daughter loves pink, so I wanted some pink diamonds in the setting for sure, and Maytal was very helpful explaining the various color shades and options, and sourcing the stones. Also, her prices are extremely competitive for the high quality work she does. Although her two young children keep her very busy, Maytal was always prompt in responding to my numerous calls and emails, and met with me several times in the process. I've posted a picture of the setting, which my daughter and I are absolutely thrilled with. I'm very thankful to the people on this great forum who suggested GOG and Maytal, and I hope this review is helpful for others in the future.

Congratulations to your daughter on her degree and her gorgeous ring!

Are these CAD renderings or are these the real pictures? They look really nice!

The ring is beautiful! I would hate to be the man who comes along one of these days and presents her with an engagement ring. That Maytal would be hard to beat!

The ring is very nice but that is not an AVC in the picture.

Its lovely! What a beautiful gift!

Hello everyone, and thank you for the nice comments. The center stone is a genuine August Vintage Cushion, inscription and all. Here's a link to the diamond, for those that requested it: www.goldoldgold.com/diamond/7543.. It's funny, but the stone doesn't look like the picture in real life. Somehow the picture makes the stone look more like a modern cushion. In person, though, the diamond has the typical big bold flashes. Perhaps the flash photography made it look a bit different?? Anyway, I'll try and get some hand shots next time my daughter visits.

It's gorgeous! Your daughter is one lucky girl:-)

That is a gorgeous stone! The camera angle certainly must have been off to have the stone appear so different in the picture above!

Wow, very beautiful, elaborated design.

What a beautiful ring! Your daughter is one lucky lady.

sdrcush ~ Is Maytal's shop in the LA Jewelry District?
