For a while now my husband has been looking for a quality diamond ring for me. I have never really received a decent sized diamond before as we were broke and in college when we got engaged. We were in the beginning stages of finding a ring for me when I went to look on e-bay for ideas. It dawned on me that I really was drawn to the older style rings in general. I like square shapes a lot, but I dislike a princess cut ring. To make a long story short, I stumbled across this ring.
There wasn''t a whole lot of exact information on this ring, but I knew I loved the setting via the pictures. I got an excellent deal on it and most importantly the diamond is absolutely beautiful. I haven''t gone for an appraisal yet, but I took it to my local family jeweler who checked it out for me and resized it. She checked it out under the scope and was impressed with the clarity and cut. Guesses it to be from the 1930s with a transition cut diamond at about 40-50 points (estimate based on measurements only). Side stones are about 4 points each and are single cut diamonds.
Over all I am thrilled with the ring. I love the prongs and even the fact that the head isn''t entirely square so the diamond doesn''t go to the outer edges on the sides, but do on the top and the bottom. It isn''t a true illusion head which I am thrilled with, but I like the over all shape it creates and how it looks with my anniversary band.
Without further ado here are the pictures (sorry they aren''t better, but my tripod mount is missing)
