After 2 weeks of perfect shine and admiration, i cleaned my diamond ring and one of the diamonds in the middle setting went dark, changed color. :(sad The clarity is F, color VS. there is one cr 0.136 diamond surrounded with 6 smaller diamonds (cr 0.388) Can anyone tell me why can that happen??? I'm starting to question the authenticity of the diamonds... :(( :angryfire:

What method of cleaning did you use?

How did you clean the stone? I'm wondering if the stone has been damaged by chipping or cracking? Do you have a loupe?

I used a brush and a small amount of mild liquid soap. They told me, in the shop where i got the ring, that there was some dust inside, apparently.. I will see later today when i get the ring back. I'm not sure that i believe them, so i will go to IGI to check the diamonds.

Did you happen to take a photo?

Maybe it's just the lack of skin oil making it look different from what you're used to? Does it look dark all the time, or only under some light conditions? If you rub your fingers over and get it a little dirty again, does it still look dark?

Maybe one diamond is more poorly cut and has a window? Maybe you scrubbed something off the back of it that was camouflaging the leakage?

This has happened to some of my men's rings.
:wavey: This is usually when something like small particle or even a small portion of the polishing cream that was hidden in the prongs between the side diamonds slides down under the girdle region of the side diamonds.
This will certainly make the diamond appear dark; like a brownish-reddish tint.
This is usually jewelers rouge.
Just a good professional cleaning or even taking out the side diamond and cleaning the setting under the side diamonds would be common and should solve this issue.
I hope this information helps. :saint:
