Hello!
Several will likely recall my long journey of figuring out what setting to go with for my upgrade. I went back and forth with CAD renderings, it never felt quite right. Because I live in Canada, many of the popular styles that were pre-designed were not available for viewing in person. I found this hard to navigate because I realized how easily a small detail could throw off the aesthetic. I had lived with a setting previous for 7-8 years that I *mostly* loved, the detail that I did not love was always in the back of my mind, for this reason, I had analysis paralysis this time around, I felt like I needed to love every single detail of my next setting before moving forward, hard to do with only online photos.
Anyway, all of this to say, I chose CvB's Jovyn solitaire in high-polished platinum - it is very similar to Tiffany's. I was never a person to care for a Tiffany setting, I wasn't trying to find one that matched it, I just knew this setting was it. The shoulder height, the width, the prongs and prong tips... the ratio from off the finger, it is perfection.
The diamond is a lab, this post is not really about the diamond, but more closing off my journey of the solitaire. I'm still now unsure about the wedding band, but I do intend on a plain platinum 2-4mm to allow the solitaire to be the star of the show. Perhaps I'll update once I've decided on one.
Setting is a size 5
The ring tapers from 2.5mm - 2mm - 1.5mm up to the shoulder.
The stone detail if you are interested is a 3 carat, E color - SI1.
