Hi, everyone. Like many on here I found pricescope late in my search for an engagement ring for my GF. I’m in the last stages of having a local jeweler make the ring.
Diamond Specs:
.80 carat GIA cert
E, VS1
1.43 L/W ratio
61% depth
65% table
Ex polish
Ex Symmetry
Med to Slightly thick girdle
No flouro
Side stones will be 3.25 x 2.25mm. G color SI eye clean baguettes.
Ring will be a three-stone, partially hidden halo with diamonds on the side of the shank and a hidden sapphire bezel set on either side of the basket under the diamond. Finally, the shank will be hand engraved scroll work with milgrain edging. My GF wanted a pseudo art deco/Vintage look but also really likes clean lines.
Some special points about the design:
1) It’s three stone. She was born in South Africa (side stone one), grew up in Wales (side stone two) and we met here in the US (center stone). She’s fiercely proud of her heritage and I wanted that to be part of the ring.
2) We bought a house together several years ago that is in a zip code that ends in 80. Hence the .80 carat center stone. No matter where we end up, we’ve always agreed to grow old back here in “the 80”. I know it sounds cheesy, but buying this house and living here has brought us so much joy.
3) The hidden blue sapphire is her birthstone. It’s also the center stone of her mother’s engagement ring. My GF has always said she liked that her mom had a sapphire engagement ring but wasn’t sure she wanted to go that route. Thus, just a peek of a sapphire so she can have the best of both worlds!
Here are some photos of the CAD rendering. The first photo is a bit chunky and we’ve slimmed everything down since that rendering.
And the stone(s):
I’m super excited. I’ve been working on this since December and it’s been a lot of fun. The ring is cast and they will be doing the hand engraving next week. Final setting and polishing the week after. After that, I just gotta figure out how I’m going to ask her.
What do you guys think? I hope she loves it!!!
