Sorry about the slight cross posting (The design and creation of the ring has its own thread in the colored stone forum). But here is the engagement ring I have designed and had made. The question hasn''t been asked yet, but the day is closing in soon (Going on holiday on the 5th of June, so I''m going to pope the question a few days into our holiday.)

The ring is made out of Stirling silver, with the setting in Platinum. The stone is a 0.52ct natural Russian Demantoid. I am also currently in the process of having a custom ring box made. Hope you like it.

Very nice and unique. I like the Plat/Sterling mixture. Nice job!

Beautiful design! Very Irish looking - it reminds me of the Emerald Isle. Congrats!

Gorgeous!!!

Wow, cool! Love the color of the stone!

Very pretty! I think it would make a lovely addition to the Colored Stones Engagement ring thread pinned to the top of the board, not to mention making a thread for it over in Colored Stones.

All the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle have now finally all slotted together. The stone has been chosen and delivered. The ring has been designed, made and delivered. The box has been designed made and delivered. The plaque and cushion have been designed and made. And finally all the parts have been slotted together to make the completed box and ring. Just the holiday and question to go now (This time next week, I may very well be engaged. )

I''d love to hear more about the box... where you got it and etc.

I designed the box with the help of a local woodworking shop called Raskl. They specialise in hardwood work, such as furniture and bespoke pieces etc. I drew up the rough plans and they made it. It is made from Imbuia stained with danish oil, with the Green leaf design ontop being made from a mix of resin and green paint, then the silver inlay is made from silver solder, melted to flood the wooden channel. The hinge is a really neat recessed wood hinge that allows the box to fully open. The box is held together with hidden magnets (you can see where they are from the small wooden circles.) One think you don''t get from the photos is the 3D like shimmer of the wood. It is a very similar effect to a tigereye stone.

Beautiful!!

And the presentation box is STUNNING!!

What a beautiful e-ring and the box is lovely! Good luck with the engagement - your gf is going to be so thrilled.
