This illustrates how lighting can show up more translucency in jadeite.

My budget black flower piece with its best portion showing looks even icier than the pricier ones!

This is a bold, striking and lustrous jadeite bangle that makes a strong statement. However, it is still soothing to the eyes owing to the very fine grain and shine.

As I've said before, this is one of my favorite threads on PS. Anything new to show? Also, I know you keep up with @Seaglow IRL and I'm missing her as well. Tell her I'm thinking about her ok?

Hello sweetie!

Erm yes I have about 40 jadeite bangles now but don't really feel like showing them on PS anymore, esp when I disagree with most of the "suggestions", "recommendations" etc which are kinda repetitive. But I'm uploading 2 I just received since you asked about them :) hope you are doing good too!!!

Seaglow is doing good and I'm seeing her in a couple of weeks when I next go to Bangkok. She found a close out with old Umba sapphires that are unheated and may let me have this below which is a colour shifter!

How do you decide which to wear and when to change??? I only have a handful but I hardly change my 24/7 bangle as some can be (literally) a pain to get on/off.

Vaseline + plastic bag or plastic glove method. Removing at night when it's cool and hands least swollen! I have bruises so I rotate between both hands.

Just wear what I like? I save the cheaper ones for my holidays.

Like this I wore to Europe this month. Light colour so easy to match.

Girlfriend, you work hard and play hard! I love how your taste has changed and evolved over the years. 40 bangles?? Didn't you just start collecting?? I remember when you thought bangles didn't come in your size! LOL, you are too funny.

What size are the ones you have? My now dead great aunt had 7 really nice green ones she bought decades ago in China but sadly they are way to small for me to even get on my wrist, can you buy them in bigger sizes?

Oooh I'd love to see your great aunt's bangles.

Mine are from 59.5mm and even 67mm. 59.5mm to 61mm I need a plastic baggie and Vaseline jelly to get them on. Inner diameters that is.

Not actually a close out but a forgotten parcel from 32 years that I kinda found and rummaged through ( I can rummage at vaults and drawers of some of the wholesalers). This stone is a bit windowed face up but I think can be closed with a basket. @Burmesedaze’s stone is a bit included but a very rare untreated, 100% color changer from Umba Valley. This color is hardly found nowadays (especially at 8.69 carats) even at Umba because this is an alexandrite type color change - though a light shade so changes from a chartreuse green to pink. Very collector’s item (if not for beauty). Actually, it kinda shifts 4 colors....some a bit with yellow and some with blue. Bought an entire parcel (with about 4 color changers) and I’m going to do a set for myself. I kept a colorchanging cab for myself. :)

Hey there Seaglow!! Long time so see!
Honestly, I had to look up what an AJP was. "Imagine greeting customers with assurance. Answering questions with poise. Providing knowledge and excellent service." From the GIA site. You could have done this anyway but it's nice to have the paper to prove it.

And a GG! Yay!:appl:

I'm remembering the first time you posted your - um, well, I'm TRYING to remember - your bracelet from good old dad, was it a rhodochrosite? On a gold chain? So it seems to me that you come by your love of gemstones from a good source. Anyway, I've learned so much from your cheerful posts and love following along when you buy astonishing stuff. Don't stop!!

ETA: I'm assuming a lot here, but I love that you seem to pursue knowledge for the sheer joy of it, rather than out of necessity. Many of us here on PS do the same but I'm too old and decrepit to pursue a rigorous formal degree. I stuffed my head full of horse knowledge for decades and sometimes wish it had been gemstones instead. LOL, I'm your girl if you ever want to start riding!!

I think my mother or another relative has the bangles, I'll ask her next time we go there (13 hours from where I live)..... I didn't take them because none fit me.

@Burmesedaze I haven't opened this thread for ages... I am only now seeing the bangles, and the one you are holding against the light (black stipes & purple) is the one I would have asked about, we must agree about a few things.

Switched out to this icy light pink lavender bangle. It's a 59.5 and looks pinker in daylight than artificial lighting!
