Hi all!!
I just got my 2.8ct lab grown HPHT diamond and I adore everything about it except the blue hue.
Here are the specs

2.8ct
E color
VS1
Triple excellent
HCA 0.9
Heart and arrow
Flourecence none

I know HTHPs can have blue hue and CVDs can be milky or brown. I don't know if this particular diamond has strong blue hue or all hthps do?

I'm not sure if I should try exchanging for another hpht and hope for less blueness, or try cvd or just keep or return........

Please help

first photo is when it is white and sparkly,
Second photo is under different lighting when I see strong blue.

If it disturbs you - exchange it. Probably best for a D color.

It looks like a reflection of surroundings to me.

I'd exchange it for a bit lower color. No reason to keep something you're not 100% happy with when you can get one you like. Good luck!

Might it be reflecting blue from the surroundings (sky)?

I agree with others — return and try a warmer color (G/H maybe).

A lower HPHT color could or most likely will have MORE blue tint. so that really isn’t a helpful recommendation.

a CVD stone will no Show no Blue tint at all (as there isn’t any boron present). If one wants a warmer stone CVD is the way to go.

I would exchange it. Not all HPHT have a blue hue. If CVD, I would check for stria. Can you ask your vendor to check for these issues before you buy? The ring is gorgeous, btw.

All of my lab diamonds are HPHT and none have a blue tint. In fact I have two L colored stones that have the loveliest hint of warm yellow.

Just here to say that this diamond looks massive and amazing on you! What’s your finger size??

Is it reflecting the sky or a blue shirt/phone case? At any rate, your photos do not show up blue to me at all. I am just admiring the SIZE of your stone! Yummy!! Check it out in lots of different lighting environments. Like a yellow room or under a shady tree. See if it is still blue. If so, return it.

Was blue nuance listed on the report?

I actually love it! I think it’s one of the most gorgeous labs I’ve seen. But if you don’t like it, exchange it until you find something you love more :)

I think you can try CVD if you don’t like the steely blue. I think it is beautiful, and I owned a mined diamond E color with medium flue fluorescence and it looked just like your HPHT diamond.

It looks like there's some blue nuance but it's subtle compared to some others I've seen. If you can see it and it bothers you, then it's best to find a stone that doesn't, CVD or HPHT.

If you didn’t say it was HPHT, I’d assume it just had strong blue florescence.
I think it’s very pretty but your opinion is the most important.

It’s absolutely gorgeous. Are you sure it’s not reflection from clothing?
