Thanks to PS, I discovered my love for old cuts especially OECs (thanks to @mochiko42 for showing me yours when we met up in HK in 2015!).

If I were to buy another earth-mined diamond, it would be an OEC and had one in my bling wish list for ages to add to my right hand ring collection of 2 with a 0.47ct and a 1.19ct emerald cut rings.

Although I could probably afford to get a bigger stone, however, I do not wish to get one bigger than my 1.19ct EC as that stone/ring is the one to rule them all for sentimental reasons.

The 1.94ct MRB that my mum gave to me that I repurposed into a bangle does not count as I did not use my own money to buy it.

Thanks to more gainful employment in the last few months which meant I have a few spare pennies for blings, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 0.86ct OEC from Ivy and Rose. The listing photo shows a visible culet and petals that I like (I had trawled through many OECs to discover I like visible culet and big petals):

The EGL certificate:

I&R is setting it for me in a simple Gypsy setting in Platinum (thanks Amanda for your help and being patient with me with the stone purchase and setting), and here are the CADs, first set on the left, revised on the right - reason for the revision was to increase the width of the shank as narrow shank at the top does not suit my fleshy finger:

This is the rough drawing I made to send to I&R with an increased in width of the shank:

After receiving the revised set of CADS, I needed to check if there is an access to clean the stone underneath as I could not see it in the CADs, and there is:

That's another box ticked for my bling wish list, and I shan't be getting another earth-mined diamond to be set in a ring, as I know I will not be able to afford a 1ct deep pink heart cut earth-mined diamond unless I win big money in the lottery, therefore, LGD it will have to be!

I shall post ring pics when I have the ring in hand, hopefully soon!

Thanks PS for leading me down the rabbit hole of OECs, and PSers for sharing my OEC journey!!!

That’s going to be a beautiful ring, DK. :kiss2: I’m happy you were able to add an OEC to your collection and it’s going to look great in that gypsy style ring.

Ooh, can't wait to see this when you get it! It's so sleek & clean - it's going to be stunning.

And the flowery OEC is dreamy!

Should be very nice when completed! Can't wait to see this OEC in an F color!!

I was prepared for lower colour to be honest; however, the ones available did not appeal in terms of visually or were outside my budget/being too big etc...

DK :))

I can’t wait to see!

So exciting! I can’t wait to see it completed.

So exciting! Will you stack it occasionally?

No, as I do not believe stackers work well on my fleshy fingers.

I stacked my 1.19ct EC in its original setting with a 2mm Titanium band to increase the finger cover, as the original band was too thin for my liking.

So exciting - I love the petals and the color - can’t wait to see it completed and on your hand!

I too am excited to see an F! Love the sleek gypsy setting. You documented your process very well, showing the tweaks to the Cads.

Thank you for sharing.

What a pretty stone! Can’t wait to see how it looks set :)

Thanks for all your kind words.

The stone is EGL certified, so I am expecting a G/H instead of a F - time will tell when I put it next to my 1.19ct EC which is an E.

DK :))

Wow! What a beautiful stone. This is going to be good! I know a lot of people prefer older stones with some tint but I love a bright and white stone in any cut. It’s gorgeous

It looks really lovely @dk168, you’ve picked a goodun!

Beautiful diamond and gorgeous ring!

Looking forward to seeing the final outcome. You picked a beauty of an OEC!

This should be a beautiful ring and comfortable to wear.

So beautiful! Old cuts are my jam too. Such a pretty stone and lovely design. As others mentioned, looking forward to seeing it. Hope you love it!

It's been made, photo of the ring received from Amanda today and I love it! :kiss2:

Interestingly, I can see a tint in the diamond when the photo is bigger as sent to me via Etsy's messaging service. However, it is fine when the photo is reduced.

It is an EGL certified F SI1, therefore, I am expecting G, which is still with in my mind-clean range.

I shall request for the shipment to be delayed so that it will arrive in early December after pay day. This way, I could delay paying the import and custom charges until next month! :lol-2:

I wonder how long it will stay shiny like that!

Can't wait to have it on my finger, woo hoo!

DK :kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

P.S. in case you have not read it, I am thinking of a small heart cut stone under 1ct to add to my right hand ring collection. ;)2

It looks great! I love how shiny the setting is too. Can't wait for those hand pics. :kiss2:

This looks beautiful, @dk168! I hope you will show profile photos, too. :)

Love it! It looks so great!

Can't wait to see hand shots! This looks like absolute perfection and what a timeless design! I love that particular cut of OEC more than any other style. <3 Congratulations!

Perfection!
