Just for fun I snapped an (awful) picture of the 100 carat padparadscha for the colored stone crowd today during my time there.

2 things. One, I had to hurry with the picture as I was being swept away by a gigantic field trip crowd. Two, the sapphire? It is HUGE, but orange. Where was the pink?!

Museum lighting is generally crappy. I think the pink will show itself under natural lighting.

100 cts? wow thats cool. I have always found that museum lighting never tends to do gemstones much justice.

Hi,

Thanks Eliot,

I'm glad you posted. This stone looks more as I had pictured a pad for many yrs, until the darker ones suddenly appeared. I prefer the lighter ones like this one.

It was a cool experience to see it in person. I wish they would put lights in there that do it justice!
