After I retired, I've been volunteering at our local Police Department where I have learned about tactical flashlights. Our CSI Technicians use UV flashlights in their work to detect bodily fluids. In addition to detecting fluorescence in diamonds, you can also use them for these other uses:

The flashlight that I bought has LW 635 nm and 690 nm in it. LW 635 nm is used in diamond grading.

Here are pictures of my jewels from the House of Wink showing various colors of fluorescence.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

Also looking at the various colored stripes on US currency was pretty neat too.

David, there is also orange in the FIYs, two stones away from a strong yellow one.

Was hoping to see maybe a blue in the FIYs, but no, only strong yellows and orange.

Yes- that one almost looks RED!

Maybe I'll try again tonight.

I noticed that several of my pave fluoresce varying shades of blue and PINK/PEACH!! I wish I had a black light to photograph it.

The flashlight that I bought has LW 365 nm and 390 nm in it. LW 365 nm is used in diamond grading.

Typo, should be LW 365 nm for gemological use and the flashlight also has 390 nm.

Here is one more picture. Should mention that all were taken with just my Samsung S5 phone.
