Hi Dani.

ah well, unfortuately, tis so. long story short is it was too much for my every day lifestyle. I can''t/don''t wear it and since we''ve moved to a much smaller town it''s an attention grabber that I don''t feel comfortable at all. I probably need some type of therapy b/c i''m 100% sure I''ve got some type of disorder
41.gif
Buyers remorse? maybe. but i gave it some time hoping things would change for me.

ha, it''s okay. I figured someone would call me out at some point so might as well get it out there and over with.

I would like to get a tiffany eternity band with .15''s. i is something I would feel comfortable wearing day in and day out. you can''t really get more classic. then at some point I can get a new e-ring and pair it with the band or do something different and would still have a great eternity band to wear. I do think that I need some very classic and simple. I adore all the fancy pave styles but they really are not practical for my lifestyle and I think the grass is always greener so i really need to err on the side of a timetested classic. We''ll see though. with the economy the way it is, nothing is too near...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

(in the feral scream heard round the world)

Aw, Mrs. S., I''m SO sorry to hear that.

However, angler that I am, I''d propose to see if you can keep that one for when you move back from suburbia....

, and get a little something EXTRA to wear now!

I know, I know.....I''m SO bad. BIG sigh. I know that a honkin pave ring isn''t like practical with three little ones, but dammit....you were the "waited for the right deal" Cinderella story, and you so loved the ring.

I admire you; I think I''d have a hard time giving it up. I''d probably default to getting a 25-pointer eternity band and stashing La Rock someplace safe until everyone''s in school full-time.
9.gif

I''m sad to say you DO have the PS disorder, though.....diagnosis complete.

We ALL want to change our minds incessantly.

In my more irrational moments, I''ve often thought that the only cure would be to get 11 other similarly afflicted Psers with great rings and set up a timeshare schedule to circle them around so everyone can wear a different style every month. I''m afraid I share the sickness.

That sounds great, Mrss!!! I can totally understand feeling uncomfortable with the Daniel K ring covered in pave...You are a busy mommy and I could see how it could get in the way!!! I cant wait to see what you eventually get though!!! *Hugs*

alj, believe me, if there was a way I could justify keeping it and getting something else, i would. But alas, life happens and the money tree stopped growing..or should I say, the money tree now belongs to 3 munchkins
3.gif
.

I really did think long and hard because I know how often folks around here get tempted with the ring envy''s and I had to be sure it wasn''t just a buyers remorse type situation because I did wait so long, which I think might have been some of the problem. I have overanalyzed every tiny detail on settings and when that one came I was 100% sure it was it, although up until then I never even considered a halo. My husband has got to be the most patient man on the planet. He is conviced however that there is no perfect ring, that the grass will always be greener but in his opinion it''s the sentiment of the gift that will make the right one special. he had wanted to suprise me with a ring and I wouldn''t let him b/c of my picky nature. I do believe if I had let my hubby choose from a few of my favorites and he really did give it as a gift rather than me opening up the UPS box I would have had a much harder time giving it up, if that makes sense. I have a pair of very fair cut .50''s earrings that he gave me and although they aren''t ideal cut, I will never give them up b/c of what they represent and the time at which they were given. anyway, i''m babbling as I try to self-justify....

Oh come on Mrss, your sooo not a nutcase!!!! Life is too short....You just need to do what makes you happy, and that's it!! Try not to feel bad about it (l know easier said than done)!!!! I know eventually you will find something you love, and something that's totally "you" , and you will feel comfortable wearing it all the time!!!
2.gif
Good luck with your decision, and if you need us, we're always here!!! Love ya!!!
1.gif

I completely understand where you are coming from with regards to the pave and lifestyle. I have decided to give up on my split shank halo and go back to something more simple. I will keep the other setting but maybe put a sapphire in it and wear it on special occasions.

I have changed my mind so much with my diamond that I think I am something of a laughing stock now. I think its Mara who has the sig on her posts.. ''Insanity... doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results''.... could possibly be me its aimed at!!
9.gif

I have decided to just stick with the diamond I have and not yearn for a bigger stone I simply cannot afford. Thats the down side to hanging round PS.. .you can get diamond envy so bad!

I hope you find your perfect setting MrsS.

Mrs S I can completely understand where you are coming from. I love your ring and think it looks stunning on your hand, but I can see how you might feel it doesn''t suit your lifestyle. I find that I covet lovely big diamonds, but now that I have one on my hand, I love how it looks but dread it being commented on by others. My husband thinks I''m mad because I wouldn''t let him tell anyone about getting a new ring and I sometimes feel tempted to take it off in family situations so it is not noticed.

I think it''s because part of me feels slightly horrified at myself for wanting such an expensive piece of jewellery - particularly given the current economic situation. My husband on the other hand is puzzled as to why I''m not shouting from the rooftops about this lovely ring that I waited so long for.

MrsS, aww I''m sorry to hear! What a bummer. It''s such a gorgeous ring and you waited so long for it! I completely understand it not fitting your lifestyle though. I haven''t worn my ering in a few months. First it didn''t fit and now it is a little too snug and with a new baby, I feel like it gets in the way! I haven''t worn it because I fear it''ll scratch him. I don''t want to trade my ering in but sometimes I wish I got a blingy eternity band instead. I can''t wait to see what you decide to get!

Who''s in?
11.gif

Wha? Wha? Did Mara move out of my head and Alj move in (because Mara is too busy making cupcakes, apparently!
3.gif
)

I agree with Alj...but I know money can be tight with three munchkins. I totally agree that a timeshare schedule would be awesome.

I totally understand though...I was debating between a pave leonesque type of setting and the jeff cooper I now own (which of course is as opposite as you can go). I still yearn for some blingier bling from time to time (until I saw Coati''s ring the other day and thought wow...a ring with a bit of fancy and a lot of practicality...I''m in love!).

But I am happy I got what I did. I''ve banged it around so much and I don''t worry about it. However, I still don''t wear it from day to day because 1) it does scratch my kid sometimes and 2) my fingers are still fat (who am I kidding, so is the rest of me) from pregnancy and wearing it isn''t comfy.

If I didn''t spend 1300 on that setting (which is pretty discounted), I would consider resetting it until something a lot thinner, just for comfort factor.

So what are you going to do with it?

Wow MrsS that sucks that you aren''t happy after all that waiting
39.gif
but you aren''t crazy at all. We are PSers, rings matter to us a lot!

It is interesting that both you and Maise have found the pave rings to be incompatible with your lifestyle etc... I have been contemplating a re-set for my solitaire (since and upgrate in stone size will be years and years away...) and was thinking about a halo or something, but now I am not so sure! I think maybe a nice bezel like Coati has (Tgal, I hear you, that is one nice setting!!).

Anyhoo, I''m so sorry that lovely isn''t working with your lifestyle! Boo hoo hoo!! What about resetting the stone into a simpler setting and having a gemstone put in the setting? I guess that ruins any potential resale though, since it is a Daniel K creation (right??)...

My ring spends more time off my finger than on. I have children and my hands are constantly in water, toy boxes, changing nappies, playing etc.. its just not the kids of ring I can wear everyday. I want something I can wear most of the time.

yep, me too. I honestly thought I weighed out all the pros and cons and was willing to accept the fact I''d have to baby the ring etc. but when it came down to it, I thought i was silly having a gorgeous ring sitting in the box and not having something i can wear and enjoy every day. now, if we won the lotto..I''d have multiple sets so there wouldn''t be the problem

Me too!! There are so many rings I would love to have!

Aww mrss, I''m so sorry to hear that it didn''t work out for you and hope you are able to find one that better fits your lifestyle soon!

MrsS, I am so sorry to hear this! Hopefully you will find something that fits your lifestyle better SOON!

thanks so much ladies for the words of sympathy and encouragment

I have no doubt that I will get the right thing this time around that will work with my lifestyle and fit into our social circles appropriately.

awww Mrss I''m so sad the ring didn''t work out! I can relate. When I''m just staying in with T I rarely put mine on. It just gets dirty and in the way. I hope you are able to find something that suits your lifestyle. I think the Tiffany band sounds lovely.

Aw, DANG, that is a bummer. But it sounds like you have really thought long and hard about it, and obviously you are making the best decision for you at this time. Believe me, I hear ya, sista!

(Still a bummer, though!)

Well, keep us posted. Most of us here are in various stages of all sorts of Chronic Diamond Dysfunctions ourselves (CDD?!)

I didn''t realize there was a thread...I did see the ring and talked to MrsS earlier in the week. I don''t blame her at all. That is one of the most beautiful rings I''ve seen, but it wouldn''t work for me on a daily basis either.

We all really do need to have a ring-share if we can''t have multiple sets! Great idea, Alj!
36.gif

Awwww...MrsS, that''s too bad.
That was one of my all time favorite ring.
Can''t wait to see your replacement ring though
41.gif

hi MrsS!

i''m sorry i am late to this thread! first, let us take a moment of silence for the daniel k...................

it is a beautiful ring for sure, and i''m sorry it didn''t work out. that being said, i completely understand where you are coming from (i am grappling with the same issues over my setting, even after a year. discovering that someone else, and you especially, could feel this way makes me feel so much better). big kudos for making what i imagine was a very difficult decision, but the right one for you!
36.gif

i love the idea you have for an eternity band!!

rainy

Mrssalvo- sorry I am late to this thread- I am so sorry about your ring, and you are NOT alone (trust me, I have you beat!). I understand that dilema of finding a ring you personally like, one that works well with your lifestyle/place of residence, budget, thats stylish, etc...I would go with a classic. I have ALWAYS loved eternity rings (someday, for a far off anniversary, it would be nice to get!). Here is to your future ring

you ladies are all just too sweet. thanks so much for all the kind words and support and for making me not feel like a complete idiot
