Hi, I just bought a bottle of Mr. Clean to use to clean my ring and I just noticed that it was ''Antibacterial.'' Is it okay to use, or would it cause any damage? The only choices they had were the Lemon Scented Antibacterial that I got, and the Febreze version. My ring is platinum. Thank you!

I used the Febreeze version quite a bit - my ring is 18 kt. gold with platinum head and no problems - only sparkle!!

Thanks MGR! So I guess the antibacterial one would be fine? I know it's pretty ridiculous to be so worried, but I finally got my ering back [looooong story, but with a happy ending!], and I just want to be sure it doesn't get hurt!

Anyone else with any thoughts? Experts/vendors?

How interesting! I never knew you can use Mr. Clean to clean your diamond. Does it work better than regular store jewerly cleaner?

Hi Bella! I can''t say for sure, but just do a search for ''ring cleaning'' and you''ll get many, many threads on that

It is not an ammonia based cleaner but it does an excellent job of cutting grease. I usually use an ultrasonic cleaner but sometimes I put a little Mr. Clean and a drop of Dawn in a bowl with hot water. I leave the rings in it for a bit then use a soft bristle brush. Rinse well and dry - gorgeous!!

I clean my diamond studs with Mr. Clean all the time - leaves them very sparkly

Yes, but I wonder whether whatever is added to make it antibacterial can harm anything? Am I being too crazy?

It never has done anything to any of my rings. Folks use antibacterial soap and handwash all the time with no harm or foul!

However, there are cleaners forumlated just for jewelry so if you have doubts, just use that!
