Finally selected a diamond. By the way, I got it from DirtCheapDiamonds and was very pleased. Picked out and bought a setting from a local area jeweler and they are going to set the diamond for me. Question is which type of mounting to get for a princess cut (regular or what the jeweler was calling "chevron" (has 90 degree corners)? My stone is a 1.2 princess cut (5.92 * 5.65). I seemed to like the regular mounting, but the jeweler said the "chevron" was safer and more common for this size/cut. Please help!

Princess have some risk of chipping at the corners especially if the girdle it thin. That's why chevron is safer. Insurance should cover this risk though.
