So I know many of us on here have goals and plans for what to add next to our collection and I've read through a few threads to get some ideas...... BUT I still have no idea what to get for my big gift of the year! Mother's Day+Birthday gift combo! I don't ask for anything at Christmas or our anniversary so this is it for me and I can't decide!

Here is what I've got:
- 3.50 TCW studs
- New E-ring 4ct RB (my gift last year)
-2.22 OEC E-ring
- Some cute diamond pendents from Cartier

Here is what I'm thinking:
- Upgrade studs to 4 tcw? But would 2 ct on each ear be practical or too heavy? I've tried them on before and love how they look but I don't know if I could handle that much for everyday wear.
- I originally planned on getting a 3ct cushion cut e-ring because I've always sort of wanted a cushion cut. But for the love... who has 3 e-rings..... And I hate jewelry on my right hand.
- I used to have a beautiful diamond tennis necklace that was my wedding gift from my husband but it was stolen and I've always sort of wanted to replace it however now with 2 kids I'm not sure how much I would actually wear it.
- I once tried on a Cartier Lanieres bracelet and fell in love with it so maybe a diamond tennis bracelet that is practical.

Decisions Decisions

You have an incredible collection! I think it's important for you to decide what will truly get the most wear, which you already seem to be doing. ;) If you wear your studs all the time, then I think it would be meaningful to upgrade. If you don't have a tennis bracelet, then I think the Cartier option would be lovely (although a part of me cringed when I looked up the price tag for such a low carat weight - would you consider getting one from WF?).

I think practically speaking, the 3ct cushion or tennis necklace wouldn't be my first choices if I were you since you're already on the fence about how much they'd get worn!

Thanks! I think you're right about the studs, most days I leave the house with just my studs and e-ring on. The Cartier bracelet is beautiful but has gone up about 5k since I first tried it on :nono: And like you said that much money for such a low carat weight is just sad. There is a little voice inside my head though that keeps telling me "cushion... look for a cushion..."

 I can certainly relate to that little voice that NEVER SHUTS UP!! Hahahaha

If a cushion will make your heart sing, then I'd at least embark on a search since you said you always wanted one and it may take a while anyway. If at that point you're still gaga over it, then do it! For what it's worth, my DH is in the camp of 'one e-ring to rule them all' since he wants it to get maximum usage (which I only bring up since you said you're not a RHR kinda gal and already have an OEC as an alternative)! But hey, what does he know

Here is the difference between a 1.75 and a 2 carat stone so you can see how much bigger an
earring might be. It does give you a little more oomph but personally, I would want something
new to wear...like a new cushion ring... OR do you have diamond hoop earrings? Those can be very
versatile (dress up or down) and give you a little variety. Whiteflash has some that would be beautiful.

or these in 2 carat+ would be nice

My issue with upgrading the studs from 3.50 cttw to 4 cttw is just... will anyone really be able to see a quarter-carat difference from 1.75 to 2 cts? According to diamond size charts, that is a jump only about a .2-.4 mm? idk wouldn't be worth it to me, I'd rather have something totally new! If you want earring things, do you have any jackets or earring charms to jazz up the look?

If you like the idea of a cushion cut and a diamond necklace, but think a tennis necklace wouldn't get much wear, what about a solitaire pendant? Or a DBTY necklace (could be with cushions or rounds, whichever you want). Both of those are pretty casual - I don't have a DBTY but I see people wearing them with tshirt/jeans all the time, and everyone also wears solitaire pendants of all sizes.

I agree that if you're getting a tennis bracelet, the Cartier price makes me cringe but - if you love Cartier, it could be worth it!

What about diamond hoops? I recently got a 3.3 tcw set - 11 diamonds each hoop, about 15 points each. They are white gold "floating" style with diamonds on the inside part that shows also

They were pre-loved so I don't know the original maker but I reach for those and my diamond studs nearly everyday

Diamond hoop earrings are something I didn't even think of! Good idea! The only thing is that I'm super sensitive to anything that dangles from my ear so they would have to be very petite and light weight, but that could be great for day-to-night wear!

I agree that is why we originally opted for the stud size I have now... You pay such a premium for the 4 tcw and there isn't that much of a difference... I guess I just sort of got stuck on the idea of each earring being 2ct :lol-2: I like the idea of DBTY and hadn't thought of that! That could be really fun! I have a DBTY CZ necklace that was pretty $$ from Neiman's and it is pretty versatile. Although I hardly ever wear it, haha I'm such a creature of habit. My husband bought me a really pretty necklace from Cartier about 4 years ago and I just wore it for the first time yesterday.... I do really like the Cartier bracelet but would probably want to find a better deal. I'm also thinking about a diamond bangle to mix in with my Love bracelet.

Hoops are so pretty and those sound amazing! I have weak earlobes though lol! I can't really wear anything heavy that hangs off the ear.... They'll just end up thrown in my purse. I like the idea of maybe a dainty hoop, not too heavy.

Do try them on! Shopping for jewelry is the best part! I don't find mine too heavy but huggies would be bald the weight and still different and beautiful if you find hoops too annoying

Here's a pic - pardon the chipped nail polish

 WoW amazing! Gorgeous! What a great buy! My other concern though with hoops is that I still have a 2 yo and he likes to still check things out and explore my jewelry while I'm still wearing it...

Cushion pendant necklace!

Cushion pendant necklace!

That could be pretty! My only thing with having a nice big diamond necklace is that I would only be able to see it when I looked in the mirror.... I think if I do a nice cushion I'd want it on my fingers so I could stare at it when I'm at stop lights :) or pushing the grocery cart.

Good point, but it will get noticed so much more by others on your neck. That's not why I bought my pendant, but it's what I have discovered as I wear it. I have the 4 carat engagement ring and wear it with my 2.7 carat AVC pendant. Tons of people stare at the pendant and I get several comments on it from strangers. The last time I wore this combination out, I got 5 compliments on the pendant and no comments or notice of the ring. It's interesting.

What about something by Van Cleef and Arpels? They have some gorgeous pieces. This bracelet would be an amazing stacker-

Thats a good idea! I have looked at Van Cleef necklaces but never really explored their bracelets.... However I must confess I'm still sort of hungry for a cushion...

VERY interesting! Its funny I've never gotten any compliments on my earrings, probably because I have a lot of hair and never wear it up, I've had probably more compliments on my 2.22ct OEC than my new 4ct maybe because you don't see a lot of OECs.... but a necklace is very front and center. Good information!
