Well.... This is prob going to be long, just warning.....

I have been slowly getting accustomed to this camera, I really love it
(except for the battery charging issue ~ plug in the whole CAMERA ?!?!?! REALLY ????)

It's slow going, I don't like to read manuals....

So anyway, I see that there are ways to edit the pics while still in the camera, and that's a cool function.
I like !
Who knew?

Is there any way to keep the line up "going" as you edit though?
I'm probably not explaining it well...

Say you are reviewing your pictures in camera after taking a few.
You use an edit function ....
Then you go back to your line up of pictures to keep reviewing them.
But the camera turfs you right back to the beginning of the queue....
I hate that.

If I take 50 pictures and want to edit # 30 (let's say) so I do that,
then I want to take a look at the rest of my pics... (#31, #32, #33, etc)
It makes me go back to #1 and start all over again, does that make sense ?
I want to edit and just continue on from that point.
It becomes so laborious that I just drop it about halfway through....

Any way around that?

I have been enjoying messing with that function, here is an example....
Spinel Ring, taken at dawn in my back yard....
I like this because I don't have to do a MS Paintbox or whatever it's called ( I'm getting there, TL ! )

Next question (for now)

Can you switch the pictures IN THE CAMERA to just your memory card?
Then exchange the card not keep adding to the pictures inside the camera?

Do I want to do that?

Can I wipe out just some ?

Again, I don't want to necessarily delete every picture individually.

Could I then replace the "used" memory card and see all the pictures in the camera again?

I sure hope this isn't a crazy question...... :???:

Sorry Shiney,
I wish I could help you as I don't know. I just do everything the hard way!! I don't use the edit capability, only MS Paint, so you already know way more about this camera than I do. You're a quick learner as your photos keep getting better and better!

When pics are "in your camera" they ARE on the memory card and ONLY on the memory card.
Our Nikons do not have built-in memory like RAM or a hard drive; the memory card IS the only memory media.
It is not even possible to take a pic when the memory card is removed from the camera.

You can remove the card and put in another blank memory card.
Buy why do that?
Just download the pics onto your computer and that is finished and you are asked, tell it to delete the pics from the memory card.
Then you have a blank memory card.
If you fill up your card to fast, buy a larger one.
If you have a 4 GB buy an 8 GB or a 16 GB. I think they go up to 64 GB.

There are two ways to get pics from your camera to your computer.
1. Connect the USB cable that came with the camera between them
2. Remove the memory card and put it directly into your computer or do this via a card reader if your computer does not have a slot for your memory card.

I'm sure it is possible to delete pics (wipe them out, as you say) "in your camera".
Read your manual.
If you cannot bring yourself to read it post the Nikon Coolpix model # and I can look up your owner's manual's pdf file online and do this for you.

Now, finish your peas and then it's nap time for you, little lady. :snore:

I think the nikons are able to store only about 10 to 12 pics without the card in the camera. Once the pictures are taken and are on the card they can be worked only on the pc through the photoshop programes. Remove 1 at a time or all at once.

If you are taking pictures in the VGA mode you can take around 300 pictures without the card in the camera, with the card, close to 1000 pictures on a 2 GB card. This all depends on how you set up the camera in the menu, not very hard to figure out.

Hmm, that may be the case with the Nikon Coolpix models, but not so with my two Nikon DSLRs.
My D200 can not take even one pic if the memory card is missing.
When you push the shutter nothing happens.

With my D7000, it will "take" pics but a red warning icon tells you they are only "DEMO" pics.
They are not saved to the memory card when it is later installed.

My manual says the DSLRs have a memory buffer which serves as temporary storage while taking high resolution pics in the continuous mode (up to 6 pics per second).
This is needed because the camera can not transfer so much data to the card that fast.
This buffer cannot be used instead of a memory card.

A little treat this morning, I noticed right after taking the Spinel pictures and I was
on my way back inside to get away from the mosquitoes, when I saw something brown
near the door.
Unfortunately I couldn't just leave "Chuck" there, since we have 2 cats (and neighbor cats...)

So hopefully "Chuck" will eat, grow a few more feathers and fly away.
We put him in an Easter basket filled with pine straw and suspended to a tree in the back yard,
hopefully Mom Bird will find him and take over.
Till he falls out again....

Say, Kenny, what is the name of that little Friend in your Avatar ?
Would he like a playmate?????? :???:

OMG that birdlette is so cute and butt-ugly at the same time.
I'm afraid our Senegal parrot would eat him for lunch. :lickout:

Yep, he's a gremlin .... get a load of those EYES
Our parrot Buddy surprisingly seems to like him (and he hates everything !)
But the owner of Birds of Paradise near here said best keep him away,
no mixing wild birds with parrots, in case of disease ( ugh )
