So my countertop is ordered and I am just waiting for it to come in. We should install it next weekend. It doesn''t have a built-in backplash though, so I am considering using tin ceiling tiles for the backsplash. I thought it would match well with my vintage house, plus be easier to install than tile.

Here are the color choices, divided into 3 groups. I took photos with them next to the floor, next to the beige painted wall, and next to the chips of my new counter.

I know it''s hard to judge subtle colors on a monitor, but I''m looking to get a sense of what color group would look best. Darker, lighter, etc.?

Lots of pictures, so here goes.

First, here''s what my kitchen looks like now.

And whites (which are less yellow in person, they are reflecting off my current yellow countertop).

And without any color added in, which would be like the white but with more texture.

Thanks guys! I do these for my husband and then he just says "whatever you want, sweetie"

I think I like C3 ... for its versatility ... won't clash with stainless appliances (if you ever add some) ... or stainless/nickel fixtures or pots/pans etc. It has a slight metallic sheen or affect that will give a bit of glimmer but not be "in your face" glare.

Believe its okay to go darker w/the backsplash since the cabinets are so white (and you have a lot of cabinets, so they take up a lot of visual space).

Its neutral enough to go with all colors -- where COPPER copper will fight a lot of things. YWIM??

I was a bit overzealous, it seems! But I still like C1 and C3 the most.

I also like C3...but could also go for white because I just love a white kitchen for some reason. Seems so fresh and clean. But you''d have to clean them a lot more often with white!

C1 - it''s bright enough to give your kitchen a little pizazz, but not "Ow, my eyes hurt!"

Color looks really nice with the flooring too.

I vote C3 as well.

LOL Basil I think it''s funny that we''re doing the same exact thing to our kitchen at the same exact time.
I picked a different laminate, and am going with a silver tin backsplash.

I concur with the C1 and C3 votes. Great idea to use ceiling tiles! I love the texture they will add.

my vote: M2.

i like copper as a color but that is overpowering in your kitchen, imo.

c3 and then c1. A bright copper would be too overpowering, so c3 and c1 would echo the flooring. I'm not sure about the lighting but c1 may be your best solution if the c3's too dark. What direction does your kitchen face? If it's North or East, do c1. If it's South or West, do c3.

I like the C1 & C3 and also M2 possibly. Are the cabinets staying white?

StepMIL has this sort of metal tiled backsplash and the color seems to be rubbing off of it or something. Not sure if its the same kind you are looking at but its something to maybe look into.

I love C1. It really picks up the warm tones in your countertop.

Quick question- are you using the actual ceiling tin tiles or the product that is specifically made for backsplashes that looks like a smaller version of the ceiling tiles?
