It’s my first time on the CS forum with my very first purchase! This week I got a few Montana sapphires from Gemfix and decided on this little blue one - 5.7mm, 0.87ct. I love the blue-green-gray of Montana sapphires and had actually hoped for a little more green or shiftiness, but the cut of this stone won me over. In most light I’d call it a medium denim blue, but it goes a little teal in artificial light which I love. I was tempted by the smaller lighter aqua stone but the cut didn’t compare. Gemfix was great to work with and I got my stones within a couple days. They really had some beautiful options and the price was reasonable

My plan is to set it in a three stone bezel RHR with two OEC sides. I love that the cut has some chunkier facets and isn’t a standard RB style because I think it will look nice with OECs. My earrings in the last pic are 4.6mm and almost exactly the size the side stones will be (the classic 1:2:1 ratio). Enjoy my meh iPhone pictures. I borrowed a macro lens for my good camera but can’t figure out how to use it haha. I included the vendor photo because I know how useful it is to compare.

Looks beautiful!

I don't know that ratio but they look closer in size than that. Maybe the bezel is fooling me!

At first I thought the earrings were way too large and I was just trying them out, but going by this guide and looking at 84% diameter ratio they’re right on. I think the bezel throws it off. They’ll stay earrings though and I’ll get new stones in a similar size. The 1:2:1 ratio refers to carat size but that doesn’t exactly apply since they’re not all diamonds, so I’m going by diameter.

My side stones are loose and ready to be set so I took a couple more pictures. I love this combination and I love this stone! It’s funny but I see more blue in natural light and more teal in artificial light, but my phone captures the exact opposite.

I love how all three stones have a small table and chunkier facets.

I prefer a larger ratio when we’re talking colored stone three stone. This will be lovely.

I’m doing a vintage bezel setting which I think also requires the stones to be closer in size than a prong setting to get the right look. I wouldn’t mind going slightly larger but with OECs it would be hard to get much more exact than this.

Also when I originally posted I was going to keep my earrings and get new stones, but I ended up upgrading my earrings and using my original earrings for the ring. So now I get a ring and bigger earrings!

Can I see the bezel inspiration?

These two are the look I’m going for.

Ha ok good I shared that ruby one and had that not been your inspiration I’d have suggested it.

That thread was very helpful! The shank will be like the ruby one, but with filigree in the gallery more like the second.

That’ll be beautiful and I’ll be very interested to see how it turns out!
