@monarch64
Your avatar, is that a pic you found online or is that your Le Creuset and induction cooktop?
If yes, I have more questions.

I ask because I'm falling in love with induction cooking and fine cookware: Le Creuset and All Clad.

And is that a poor sandwich that got burned?

HI:

Too funny, I just thought the same thing! Is this @monarch64 handiwork? I think she once told me the best grilled cheese was with havarti and kraft singles???

cheers--Sharon

Induction hobs are great!

Got a 2-burner one in my RV, and also two portable ones for my pop up catering events, a single and a double.

DK :))

I bought a portable induction cooktop from Amazon to see if I liked it enough to replace my stove if it goes kaput. It cooks fast. I like certain food krispy just shy of the briquette in the avatar.

I have lots of le creuset but no induction stove. I will get induction next time, although I love gas. Hate the gas oven. though. Heats entire house!

Not Monnie, but I have induction and lots of Le Creuset. I think other than one non-stick skillet, all my cookware is either Le Creuset or Smithy cast iron - both work beautifully on induction (while simultaneously providing an upper body workout :)).

I switched about 18 years ago and I'd never willingly go back to gas.

Adding that my husband would totally eat that poor sandwich.

Do you mind saying which you purchased and if you think it’s good enough that you’d buy it again or a different one?

I'd buy it again and I'm still experimenting with cooking on it.

I have an induction hob (no gas supply to my village & we have to move away from fossil fuel in the UK soon) & also Le Creuset cookware. Absolutely love both & wouldn’t be without.

@Lookinagain, I checked my order history with Amazon and I bought the cooktop 7 months ago for $109 and now without the discount it's priced at nearly $139 (it's made in China).

Thanks for checking for me. I'm just toying with the idea of trying it out for the same reason as you. I have to check my pots and pans too. I have cast iron and enameled cast iron, but I want to check the others that I commonly use. Thanks for checking for me.

edited to say I just looked at I see it at 120.99. Isn't that odd.

Love my induction. But then again, I don't love gas. I do like LC, but don't use it exclusively. Funny this thread should come up, bc I went looking/shopping today to replace some items.

Perfect timing! Also pardon my ignorance, but what fuel is LC?

Wow @kenny , only took me 9 days of thinking about the induction range to ordering one. These kinds of decisions usually have me going over 100's of reviews. I had prerequisites though. Not over $3k (our prices are about $1k higher than in. US. It had to have knobs instead of touchpads. And idk, there was only 1 choice left at that point because non chef level ranges didn't have knobs except for one, lol. It's a frigidaire I think. I figured knobs are mechanical, so better bet. All the actual high end ranges DO have knobs! It comes next week.

I love mine, and it has knobs. A couple of our favorite pans didn't work on it, but we have cast iron and Le Creuset which are great. And then .. a couple of weeks ago I fell and got a nasty sprain of my left wrist. Damn it's hard to use Le Creuset with only one useful arm!

@lyra  As our @Karl_K would say, "Kewl!"

Another big reason I love induction is ...
There's no open flame, so no carbon monoxide to possibly harm our parrot, Bibi.

I find cast iron pans too heavy for my liking, and prefer Stainless Steel instead.

Well, I thought it would keep my arms fit! I didn't count on falling *up* the stairs and bending everything farther back than it was designed to go. More than two weeks before I could use it properly!

It's the bending over with a heavy casserole dish out of the oven that will do me in. With osteoporosis I need to be careful.

I have a bird too, and we can't use self-cleaning whatsoever. He is sequestered away from the kitchen at all times. We do crazy things to keep him alive and healthy. But even so, I think going back to electric is just safer for all of us. Plus, the gas stove heats up the whole house in the summer. Unbearable!

Yes the LC is sometimes just too heavy for me, but everything comes out great with it. It's a late life splurge for me. I love it. I have so many different colours too.

I seldom use my big oven nowadays to cook for myself.

It won't happen now, however, if I were to start re-designing my kitchen, I would put the main oven at mid-height.

I had that in my last house I shared with my then husband, and it was great with no bending required.

DK :))
