Lol! I have really enjoyed reading this thread...

Gypsy you rock - you were entirely correct in your conversation with your mother.

You sound how I used to be when I first started taking the pain-meds for my back 5 years ago. Sadly the nice warm loopy effect wears off a bit quickly if you take them long term. I need serious amounts of intravenous morphine to feel like that now...

Hope your back feels better today!

I''m laughing through this whole thread, but the math thing got me... my mom did that too! She said "the guest list will be about 500" and by the time I got used to that idea and finally got her to give me the guest list, I said "Mom, this is 500 COUPLES!" and then we realized that she''d forgotten about 30 more couples that HAD to be invited. It was pure insanity. In this case, it was more that SHE was bad at math not trying to run something by me, but it still blew my mind how she could underestimate by HALF and be deluded until 6 months into the planning when I said "umm...."

So to me, 13 people is nothing.... but I''m glad she''s paying for it! And I hope your back is better!

Layla...your wedding is super important..as all of ours are/have been. I want to suggest that you listen to Tim McGraw''s "Live Like You Were Dyin''" . I''m terrible at posting links, maybe someone else here will help me out..please don''t take offense, but this song has meant so much to me and I would like to share it with you. You can probably just google it an find it on you tube. I know you''re probably not a country fan...neither am I, but there are certain songs that make me say "hmmm." Sorry if this is too much or out of line...I just wanted to share with you.

Goodness gracious...what an entertaining thread. Gypsy, you made me want to score some percocet...LOL.

Aw, I missed the love fest last night. Too bad. How''re you feeling today, Miss Gypsy?

The same thing happened to us Gypsy (I love your real name, by the way). After months of asking my FI''s parents if they wanted to invite more guests and them saying no, they added 13 people. This was after we met with the coordinators at the restaurant and decided on the menu (and therefore the cost). I was not a happy camper. So I know what it''s like. We now have over double what my FI and I originally wanted our guest list to be. We wanted 80 but now we''re over 160. That''s certainly not all due to my FI''s parents of course but it just proves a point that weddings often end up looking way different than a couple wants. Ugh.

LMFAO, really! You''re right Layla, might as well give it your all while you''re on the good stuff. Although I am really sorry to hear you threw your back out!!!

Hey, I''ve offered before and I''ll offer again...bouncing a la Monnie is free of charge...and I will not count as a guest. Don''t even bother with the caterers giving me a boxed meal. LOL! Seriously, I''m right here with you every step of the way whenever you need me. We 9-21 and Mon Cheri brides gotta stick together, eh?

I understand the feeling of this thread. I have a migraine medication where I have the escpetionally rare side effect of getting rather high. It kind of scares me but less than 1% of the takesrs have that effect so it is not well monitored.
Anyway, my point is that I am getting married on 09-21 and it looks like I am going to be a Mon Cheri bride too! I just wanted to share in the love.

That makes you the third! Another "kindred spirit" in the mix...although I was married in 2003 so I get to be the old lady of the group now...good to share the love even more, BiH!

For the record, Parasols at Wynn.

And the lanterns at the Blush club at the Wynn...I think they were all white, but had a rainbow lighting effect so it would transition from one color to the next seamlessly-very cool looking...Obviously that''s why I took the pic!

must elope.... must elope.... must elope....

My back is feeling a bit better today thanks. Woke up hung over... but after I had breakfast that started to get better.

Sumbride... 500 COUPLES. That''s REALLY bad math. I know you had a HUGE wedding but... HOLY CONVENTION batmas!!!

Monnie-- I love Tim McGraw... he has quite a few songs that are favorites of mine.. .and his wife has more. I wont take offense, no matter what the song says, I really am sincere when I say that I consider you a true and REAL friend. Thank you for sharing something so special to you with me. I will listedn to it ASAP, as I''m familiar with it

Courtney... Stick to a couple glasses of wine, it''s much better for you. This stuff isn''t anything you want to mess with. I''m terrified everytime I take a pill... which is almost never. EXTREME migraines is what I was perscribed them for, and this is the first time I''ve used them for anything other than that. But my back was in SERIOUS pain and I couldn''t walk, stand or move.

Hi Zoe, you did miss the love fest, and you TOTALLY would have been welcome. I''m feeling better, thank you for asking. Taking it easy, the back is still "out" but I took a very mild muscle relaxer for it this morning and it''s helping me, but I have to be careful of it. Yes, the weddings are a slippery slope. Looks like we''re both in the same boat. Still it will be a lovely day, and we''ll get married and celebrate.

Hi Brazen honey... you of course a VERY welcome addition to ''club'' ... consider the love shared honey!
You are not the old lady Monnie. Just the old married lady. LOL.

FREKE!!! Thank you for posting those. That''s it EXACTLY they are beautiful!! And the Blush club lanterns are awesome too! You ROCK lady!!

Legacy... ROFLMAO. Definitely.

And I loved deeper,
And I spoke sweeter,
And I gave forgiveness I''ve been denying,
And he said someday I hope you get the chance,
To live like you were dyin''.
He said I was finally the husband,
That most the time I wasn''t.
And I became a friend a friend would like to have.
And all the sudden goin'' fishing,
Wasn''t such an imposition.
And I went three times that year I lost my dad.
Well I finally read the good book,
And I took a good long hard look at what I''d do
If I could do it all again.
And then.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you''ve got eternity
To think about what you do with it,
What could you do with it, what can
I do with with it, what would I do with it.

Monnie honey, how silly you are to think I''d be upset. I''m touched. Very much so. It''s absolutely great advice, and I know it comes from the heart. The heart of a friend.

And it''s advice I''m going to heed.

Thanks again, for the kick the in the pants. It''s something only a true friend takes the risk to do for another. ((( HUGS))

PANDORA... I just saw your post, I missed it earlier. Intravaneous MORPHINE huh. Yeah. That''s what I''m afraid off... and ending up completley addicted. Thank you for sharing your story. And for letting me know that you agree with what I said to my mom. Thank you honey. And I''m happy to entertain.

Wow. Okay, needless to say your Mom is being a bit unreasonable.

LOL. Maybe a BIT, but fortunately not totally, since she''s paying for them. And I do have the satisfaction of having pointed out HOW she was being unreasonable. It helps. Thank you for being here for me Sarah, I appreciate it.

Totally random comment, but I LOVE that photo! That has to be one of the most beautiful pictures and color schemes I''ve ever seen.

Thanks Zoe! In real life it''s a little bit more vibrant but the general idea is there. We were there at night and the lighting was kind of low, and I think thats why it''s a little washed out.

It''s really a beautiful hotel, definitely worth checking out. And I can''t remember because it seemed like there were Tiffanys everywhere, but I think there was one in there...Ok just kidding. I looked and they have Cartier and Graff.

Even better!

Those parasols at the Wynn are definitely amazing. Gypsy, you should totally call them and see if you can get their visual team to do your wedding. For free. LOL!

THIS is why I''m having a destination wedding. My mom would totally do something like this if I was having the wedding locally. She has stated that we ARE having a second reception in my Ohio hometown, so she may do all of the "motherly" wedding planning things that she missed out on. She''s going to turn the whole freakin 14 acres into a festival and invite the whole town. I can see it now...
But at least I don''t have to do anything but show up. Yes, I love Ohio in august...in the woods....being eaten alive my mosquites in mid-day.

Hope you are feeling better today! I have to venture over here after reading something about percocet on one of your other posts.

Mothers.....

Monnie! LOL. I''m happy to see this thread continues to entertain. We actually had a very fun night, I had a WHOLE BEER!!! Lots of seafood for dinner, a great waitress, and talked a lot.

MissRocks... no worries, I TRIED to get us to elope, but John would agree... then a couple of hours or days later he''d bring up reasons why it wasn''t practical, so after 3 years of this I realized he was never going to be okay with eloping... and gave in. I''m SO HAPPY you are getting the wedding of your dreams. And if it makes you feel better, my mother is ALSO going to throw me a large reception at her house AFTER the wedding so that she can invite all the people she''s not allowed to invite to the wedding. THAT''S where all these 13 people were supposed to be included... along with half of Northern CA.

And... just in case you are all wondering....

LYRICS:

Rubber Ducky
Rubber Ducky, you''re the one.
You make bath time lots of fun
Rubber Ducky, I''m awfully fond of you.
Rubber Ducky, joys of joys
When I squeak you, you make noise
Rubber Ducky, you''re my very best friend, it''s true!
Everyday when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who'' cute, yellow, and chubby.
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby)
Rubber Ducky you''re so fine
And I''m lucky that you''re mine
Rubber Ducky, I''m awfully fond of you.
Everyday when I make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who''s cute, yellow, and chubby.
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby)
Rubber Ducky, you''re so fine
And I''m glad that you''re mine
Rubber Ducky I''m awfully fond of...
Rubber Ducky I''d like a whole pond of . . .
Rubber Ducky I''m awfully fond of you.

D''s mother wants to add another 20 people to her provision of 50 people. Personally as long as she pays for the extra, she can invite as many people as she wants. That''s very annoying though if you don''t want the extra people there and if it will cause problems with your step father.

At least you guys don''t have to have 2 ceremonies... I went to dinner with FSIL last night and I got to hear all about the other one I have to have and how FMIL and FFIL have to go to my parents house with a roast pig and other gifts when they come to take me away... LOL

I told her to tell my FMIL that she can do whatever she wants and I will go along with it... and I have to wear this http://aodaivinh.com/images/ttf/tt30.jpg but its supposed to be in red but I''d rather wear pink....

Boy I can''t wait....must elope must elope must elope...

ROFL at the Rubbery Ducky lyrics.
