Modify or completely reset?

I picked up this pretty little star sapphire ring because the price was right and I love the sapphire. That said, the band is horrible and uncomfortable and the prongs are nowhere near smooth. I like the halo around the sapphire but could really take or leave the gallery. Would I be better off changing the band and having all the prongs on the diamonds smoothed out and the prongs around the sapphire brought to points or just redesigning the whole darn thing? Would there be a huge difference in price?

Personally, if its in your budget i would reset it, i think the current setting looks a little too chunky. Its a pretty star though

I vote to reset too, budget permitting. Between my not so nice native chunky settings and the better ones, I find myself wearing the latter more.

I'm with you....IMO the entire setting overpowers and overshadows the stones. Lovely star!!

That is a lovely stone! Personally though, I don't know if that setting is redeemable. It's very clunky, and the diamonds seem to be set every-which-way. I'd start saving for a new setting!

Thanks for the input everyone. The diamonds really are set every which way lol. I just don't want to hemorrhage $$$ ( but who does, right?) but I do want to LOVE it, not just like it.

If it were me, I would reset it and sell the gold for scrap or trade it in towards the price. Love your new star! It will be a ring you love with some TLC and attention. You could reuse the diamonds for a halo or sell them and get new ones if want perhaps different shapes or sizes. Many, many possibilities here!

The most important thing is the star. Yours has a beautiful, poetic beauty. It really seems like the permeating, gentle glow of a sky star coming through a darkened blue, blustery sky. Super romantic!

Also, it would be great to see pictures of it over in the star sapphire thread!

I vote reset. The setting is a little off IMO. I think the band is way too thick too.
