MODIFIED ROUND BRILLIAN... poor cut?

I recently purchased a diamond with the following GIA specs:

Carat: 1.01
6.43 - 6.48 x 3.98
Total Depth: 61.7%
Table Size: 59%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good

This is a Round Modified Brilliant. I noticed that there are 16 pavillion facets as opposed to 8. Is this an inferior cut that won't produce as much fire?

Can you post the GIA report number? That will provide more information.

Not necessarily a poor cut. GIA probably doesn't show a cut grade in the report. Some modified rounds could have nice optics while many are just gimmicks. More facets doesn't necessary mean better sparkle thought. It could go both ways.

Is this the norm for rounds?? I thought GIA always graded cut on rounds...

As far as I know, GIA grade cut on rounds but not modified rounds

That is correct, GIA only grades regular round brilliants.

Some people think this style is too chaotic in a 1 ct size. Some people like it.

Leo rounds are cut with 16 mains, but whether this is a Leo or not, I could not say.

Most people on PS do not like skinny arrows, preferring instead larger facets.
