I need some ideas for a modern type pearl necklace and where to one. Looking for something nice enough but not big money. Ones like the single floating pearl, pearl on a silk cord, etc., and any other suggestions welcome. Thanks so much.

Personally, I think opera length, or very long strands can look fresh. Also combining spikes or other edgy metal accents to a strand can perk them up.
I love pearls, but they can look matronly on anyone over 16.

Thanks Harper.

And welcome, btw. :wavey:

Mixing chunky metal pieces and pearls looks modern to me. I recently saw this on qvc and thought it looked interesting. Not sure about this new mystery metal they're pushing but the design is something I would wear.

Ooh, good ideas presented so far. What is your price range?

I'm thinking maybe a strand of baroque circle Tahitians or a freshwaters in a more unusual color like a smoky mauve.

I'm not a fan of single pearls on me - I don't think they suit me but they suit others for sure.

Not sure of the budget, but I love Jan Logan's pearls.

Necklaces like this are modern but classic:

They are all longer styles and can be worn as a single strand or doubled over. I love the combination of semi precious stones and pearls. It almost makes it more lux!

This is an interesting take on a classic with onyx and white pearls (assume freshwater?):

There are loads of other options on the website. Her quality is excellent and I have a few pieces myself. I get a great amount of wear out of them.

I have some Catherine Cardellini pearls too and they are lovely but far more traditional. Well, certainly the ones I have are!

Hope that helps!

Hi sonomacounty, my suggestion is to have a look at Pandahall, their pearl designs are really nice, most of them are at wholesale price. I found them by searching jewelries on Facebook, there are many exquisite finished jewelry design listed, then I got my interests to scan their website, the pearl things did not let me down, you can have check as well.

Thanks so much, all.

Any suggestions for where to find a single pearl on a silk cord or wire (I believe they were doing this a few years ago)? Do you like that look?

Fly girl that is elegant, timeless and modern all in one. Very nice.

Her design looks very interesting. Do you own anything from her?

Thanks so much, Nacre.

I was just looking around and found something called an omega pearl necklace, which I love, but didn't want to go crazy expensive.

Does anyone have an omega/silk/leather necklace and how do you like them? Thanks so much.

I have a grey Tahitian pearl on a black silk cord. I bought it about 7 years ago.
It's very casual and easy to wear. I think i was looking for ways to perk up my boring work suits. i bought a tin-cup style at the same time. I think it looks cute with t-shirts also.
Come to think of it, it might make a nice long pendant. Mine is choker length with a knot /loop closure.
