I went over to MiaDonna to check out the Swarovski MMD. They are still way more expensive than DeBeers Lightbox.

Also found this, 85% lab grown diamonds called Diamond Hybid? It is apparently a stimulant core with the real MMD layered on top.

Yes! I went to check it out as well and found it disappointing. Prices are super high (5k for a 1 carat pink lab diamond!?), the website was difficult/confusing to navigate. I also thought they were going to produce stones with many different colors? The whole 'hybrid' thing also really threw me off. Definitely not an easy shopping experience. I will continue to wait for the 2 carat LB stones to come in, I guess...

So is "diamond hybrid" a new way of saying diamond plated? Like when something's gold plated?

Doesn't seem like a viable choice over CZ or Moissy, in my opinion.

I wonder how that affects the way light moves through it? With a core of a different thing?

It seems to me like the Better than Diamond hybrid of years ago. That was some sort of crystal with a diamond coating.

So I guess price wise these are competing with nice moissanites? Which would you guys rather have?

Let me clarify, I would 100% prefer a lab diamond over a moissy but I think what you are looking at is not an actual diamond. In that case I would prefer the moissy over whatever that is.

In my mind: It's a poser being pushed with a fancy gimmick vulture marketing campaign to convince shoppers that the pricing is somehow a bargain...nothing more.

Please note that I'm not bashing on CZ or Moissy (or other bona fide simulants) that have established their place in the market for good reasons.

I still can't get over how insane their pricing is for regular lab diamond stones. Like do they just have no concept of what their competitors are pricing? I think there might be something to the idea that they're majorly up-pricing the lab diamonds to make the 'diamond filled' (or whatever weird frankenstein process they're using) stones look more appealing.

The way I have seen similar items marketed on Etsy is that they will pass a diamond tester.

So you can tell someone you have a lab diamond when in fact you only have a diamond-plated crystal. Then when the person grabs your ring off of your hand, whips a diamond tester out from within their left pocket, and tests your diamond, they will be fooled into thinking you have a lab diamond.
