Milgrain question?

I bought a cheap milgrain "Art Deco" ring to see if I liked the style with my ering for stacking.. Anyways, it feels "itchy" and snags my hair. Is that because it is cheap or is milgrain like that?

My wedding set has millgrain detail & I've never had any issues; never itchy, and it doesn't snag or pull my hair. Can you share a photo?

Milgrain doesn't snag. It has to be a prong on the piece. Also-it feels itchy because it's probably a cheap metal. Anything could be in that mount, copper, tin, silver.. you just never know.

Okay, so it must be because it's cheap. I should have said "scratchy" not itchy. It feels rough. Good to know that well done milgrain is not like this because I do like the way it looks.

Quality millgrain doesn't scratch or get caught on anything, cast or hand forged. If you love its appearance, by all means, invest in millgrain detail; you won't be disappointed!!!

The millgrain on my avatar ring does not scratch at all!
I also have a ring similar to the one that you posted and it is not scratchy. Not as delicate and detailed as my SK ring, but nice and it was very affordable. I purchased it on Etsy and she was very pleasant to work with for a fun ring.

Millegrain rounds off with wear over time and will remain rough or catchy with this expected wear. When new, it can be a bit scratchy. It depends on how the millegraining was done. This means how distinct and spaced the beads are and how deep the separations between the beads are. Sometimes the roundness of each bead is accomplished, but on a rapidly done job the beads may not have been polished or well rounded before delivery. In time, they all become smooth, as they will polish off any high spots with normal wear.

Agree with all the above, but if you are normally sensitive to things being scratchy or having texture (tags, waistbands, etc.) -- you may want to avoid milgrain unless the maker really buffs it down. While not sharp, it has texture. Some people just can't get used to anything with much texture....

Ah, great point. So it will not be unnoticeable and it will still have texture?

I really love the look of stacked rings but I'm starting to think I'm more of a minimalist when it comes to actually wearing them. I'm wondering how exactly I'm going to be able to tolerate my ering plus a wedding band (let alone multiple rings stacked). Hopefully it's something I can get used to and it just feels awkward at the moment since I'm used to just one ring with a pretty thin band. Otherwise, I'm thinking I'll have to wear my wedding ring on my right hand
