Miley Cyrus' engagement ring

It does look beautiful! Maybe one of our PS celebrity bling sleuths can find a picture of the ring?

Is Miley Cyrus the Disney girl who had another name in a show? I think my niece likes her, and I was very confused about who she was for a while. I recognize her fiance as Gale from The Hunger Games, though!

No sleuthing required!

I like it! It's very under-stated for a celebrity ring - aside from that 3.5 carat center stone, that is!

(oops! I guess that might maybe not be an actual photo! )

Haven, her TV character was Hannah Montana.

Her ring is very pretty.

i like it.

Here's another pic.

I like it. I think it's pretty and I like that it's in yellow gold.

Ha...3.5 cts. antique cushion! Very nice choice!

They have been dating a long time, but oh, they are still so young...22 and 19!

Her ring is gorgeous!

SweetAsscher--That's a great picture, thank you!

I love her ring! Stunning.

Marcy--That's it! Thank you. I kept on thinking my niece was talking about two people, and it was very confusing. Not sure why, I'm normally not that dense, but i think it's because neither her real name nor her TV name sound like real people.

I think it is a very beautiful ring!

That is so young! I wish them the best...

i wish them a long engagement!

I wonder if antique stones will see a spike now, especially from young(ish) girls who really adore Miley. Because there are a LOT of them.

That photo makes it look more OEC than cushion. But it's not exactly a detailed shot to judge from. And weren't antique cushions cut earlier than the 1880s-90s? I thought that was the era of OECs, with cushions being in the decades prior.

I really like her ring. Its so pretty. My son and his girlfriend are engaged and they are the same ages as Miley and her fiance. They are getting married in 2014.

Beautiful ring - love the yellow gold - quite the departure from most celebrity choices (if she DID go that route) and yes, the antique setting may just spike a trend!! She is pretty influential....

I do think that is young and agree that I hope they take their time with this... too many celebrity relationship seem to flare out so quickly. Hope they do well.....

It's a beautiful ring. I hope they don't rush to the alter.

Interesting question! It will also be interesting to see whether and how the mass market interprets that setting!

This.

Gorgeous ring! I just think they are both so young.

Thanks for posting. After reading about this online, I was curious what the ring looked like :)

I broadly think of OMC's as being mid 1800's through the turn of the century, with OEC's to follow (with overlap). But then you also have "early OEC's" and "late OEC's", etc., and different locations were producing different cuts at different times. But very generally, you can think of it as the evolution in the sophistication of cutting on a timeline continuum:

OMC (off round, very rustic)/Cushion (getting more symmetrical)/Early OEC (still mineish and slightly rustic)/OEC (what you think of as traditional OEC faceting)/Late OEC (facets getting tighter, more symmetrical)/Transitional/Early RB...

Culet size also follows this to some degree, with the largest culets seen in OMC's and Cushions (which technically fall under the OMC umbrella), then they get smaller as you move along the timeline.

Lately we've been seeing newly cut stones being represented as old (OEC's and Cushions), and one of the giveaways is symmetry that's too precise, small or no culets in stones that should have them (and culets that are far too symmetrical or rectangular in shape), etc. There are many other ways of determining whether a stone is likely to be antique versus newly cut, but these are just some notable ones.

Thanks Erica, great info! :))

Apparently the media thinks it is ugly. I on the other hand, think its gorgeous!

I disagree with the media (sometimes it seems the media is just nasty for no good reason).
Surprisingly tasteful ring given they are young celebrities. I wish them the best.

Ditto everything said here.

Doesn't seem to fit her personality.
But then, I'm not exactly sure what her personality is - - she seems to be rather all over the place in knowing herself. Or is just me?

The ring is pretty. I give the relationship a few years. She's not grown up enough for marriage.

Oh I don't know. I got married at 20 (to a 30 year old Frenchman I had only known for a month) and, 15 years and one adorable 7 year old later, we're still going strong :)

(I do realize how rare that is)

It can happen. My parents knew each other 4-5 weeks before hitching, and it lasted until my mother's death 46 years later.

But this is: a celebrity
a celebrity child becoming a woman
a celebrity with issues
a celebrity with a history of eye-rolling mishaps in the public eye

It has forever written all over it, don't you think?

Sounds like there is a very romantic story behind your marriage! I love it!

Ditto! I'll admit that I'm curious but don't want to be nosy. :))
