Hello ya''ll:

Can someone explain what micro-setting encompasses?

Is it, perhaps, a variation of pave setting?
Also, can any size stone be set using this technique? It''s just that I have a couple dozen 10 pointers that I would like set into an eternity style bangle and wondered if this type of setting would be feasible. It certainly appears nice.

Cheers

Sharon

I'm guessing you are talking about the micro pave settings, and although I'm not certain, I would guess that most jewelers could set your stones in that fashion. Let's see what the experts think!

I think "micro" reffers to the very small distance between the stones set pave - these are set under magnification, so the word descibes a special technique as well as the result.

Most of examples I know of are made with smaller diamonds though (definitely less than 5 points each) and the technique is used to achieve an even surface covered with many rows of diamonds.

Micropave is multiple tiny diamonds--just a half point in size--set very close together under microscopes. Designers, such as Michael B. and Ritani, were among the first to create pieces in this fashion, and were quickly followed by Norman Silverman, Carelle, and Gumuchian Fils. Many other companies played catch up this year at the Las Vegas JCK Show by unveiling their own micropave jewelry lines, especially in the bridal category.
